Morrissey-solo started on Feb. 12 1997 and
up to this point run by one person, David Tseng ([email protected]).
Email me with any feedback you have regarding the site, if you find a
bug, or if you just want to say hi. Suggestions are welcome, however
I do consider it rude when people try to tell me how to run my site.
I might need some help with the day-to-day activities of the site
in the future so if you have the time and some dependability drop
me a line and let me know you're interested in helping.
This is not my full-time job so I am usually very busy (Since 1995 I have worked at Yahoo! Music, formerly LAUNCH). I'm sorry I can't answer most of the email I get but be assured I appreciate everyone who has sent their support and all of the many positive contributions made to this site. Here's a photo mosaic of myself, made up of Flickr images tagged "Morrissey" created by fellow co-worker and programmer extraordinaire, Jim Bumgardner.
A brief history:
- Oct. 1991 - Jan.
1995 -- Sing Your Life - A Morrissey Fanzine
. Started with Russ Seekatz, the fanzine included many stories and photos from many contributors, covering tours in 1991 (Kill Uncle) and 1992 (Your Arsenal). We completed 3 editions in all and I think we were one of the first to use computers (in the form of word processor printouts) in producing a fanzine.
- July 1995 - Feb. 1997 -- SYL
website. Not an extensive site, it had info on the fanzine and
some news updates but was mostly a means for me to learn HTML.
- Feb. 1997 - present -- Morrissey-solo.
- Feb. 1997 to Jan. 1999: The site was originally hosted on a SPARC 5 thanks
to my work (http://music.yahoo.com/).
- Jan. 1999 - May 2000: the site was moved to my home, running on a P166,
using the recently installed DSL line.
- May 2000 - May 2005: the server was upgraded to a Dual Pentium III in May 2000. In June
2000 the whole codebase of the site was converted over to the Open Source Slashcode. To read more about the server, see the Morrissey-solo FAQ. In March 2002 the server was moved to a hosting location in downtown Los Angeles (CI Host).
- May 2005 - present: the server was upgraded to a Dual Pentium Xeon in May 2005.
