  • I don't know what to say. It was....disturbing. If there were any questions as to if Morrissey would ever visit this site or not, well, this might be your answer. Frightning!

Women only like me for my mind.
  • The middle frame on the bottom row of page 1: no apostrophe in "chick's"
Page 3, top left hand frame: no apostrophe in "camera's"

    Otherwise, I really liked it.

  • I really liked it. Get me right, I REALLY liked it! Lovely little story. Maybe you spent slightly too much space on the fighting scenes, but overall it was splendid, very amusing, and the first half was quite touching.

I am certain that Morrissey would love the comic if he saw it. He seems to have a great sense of humour, and this strip IS great humour. And it is a nice way of showing your devotion to an artist, creating something in return for what you have received yourself. Thumbs up!

And by the way, I felt exactly the same way when I first heard Kill Uncle. Didn't we all?

  • I found so-called comic pictures by Oliver (whomever) kinda of creepy and stupid... I mean, today Palestinians blew up 16 Israeli civilians (teenagers) in Tel Aviv in cold blood, apparently Arafat trying to prove to the World that Nobel Prize was given him dare I say ... by some cosmically idiotic mistake... Meanwhile... some half-assed rightist militia morons at Midwest are blowing mailboxes & maiming post-men/women, while some zonked on drugs idiot - high schooler in Deustchland is murdering his classmates, meanwhile... American servicemen, who are indeed heroes of our times, are being sporadically wounded and killed in Afganistan by Al Quaeda... now Oliver thinks that with all this blood and violence and terror in the World his "shooting" pictures are funny... I'm not a moron, I understand the artist's intended non-offensive playful irony, yet I don't feel that funny... Rather creepy... Well, offended too... Maybe at different times, peaceful times this kind of dare I say "humour" would be OK, but not now, not today... Jez, maybe Chris (amb-out) was on something when accusing us of being cruel...???
I'm visiting Tori Amos and Cure websites regularly, and I would say, that kind of things would never be published there at first place... Yeah, constructive criticism is fine with me, but there must be some kind of a limit (as well as for everything...). BTW, I hate South Park kind of humour... maybe I'm in a small minority here.
    Just IMHO...

    • May I ask, when exactly are there times when it's peaceful? When are there times when there isn't some senseless act of violence being committed so as I could produce my work without offending anyone?

Not to disparage your argument as I understand your opinion, I just happen to diasagree. You were right in assuming that my comic was created in light-hearted fun, because it was. And I agreee that there is a senseless amount of violence in the world (maybe a bit more in the past year) but I see that as no reason why I should censor my art ("art" Ha!).

I created my comic out of a deep respect and admiration for the man and his work. I was playing on a theme that seems to be prelevant to some of Morrissey's fans which is the feeling that he saved their lives through his words. I just hammed it up a bit and put a twist on it. I find many of Morrissey's lyrics to be very funny. I personally think, "Bigmouth Strikes Again" is hilarious because all the violence he speaks of in the song comes from his mouth. The man who won't eat a cow is suddenly going to beat a girl to death in her bed?!? (But he was only joking right:)) Morrissey has come under similar fire for , "Suffer Little Children", "Reel Around the Fountain" and others. And what about his ode to the Kays in , "Last of the Famous...?"

I believe Morrissey writes these things because he knows it will push a few buttons. But also becasue he wants to address things that actually happen in the world. It is a sick world where children are raped, women are beaten, killers are glorified on movies and t.v. and every now and then, some one turns infatuation into violent obssesion (Selena, Bjork, Monica Seles, David Letterman). But what's the sense in ignoring these things and pretending they don't happen? That's not to say my comic is making some sweeping social statement or is a call to action (or is in any way comparable to Moz's efforts), but closing our eyes, holding our ears and sweeping things under the rug is not going to make these problems go away.

To be fair. No one gets killed in my comic. And the would-be-murder goes to prison for his actions. Violence is not glorified (Morrissey acts in self-defense) and good wins over evil. My comic would barely constitute a PG-13 rating.

While I see your plea for less violence in the world I hardly think my comic is akin to setting off bombs in people's mailboxes. I would hope the people who regularly visit this site are of a slightly more mature stature then the average joe and can take my comic at face value and enjoy it for what it is. And I take it from reading the comments on my work, most can.

I do appreciate you taking the time to voice your complaint. We will have to agreee to diasagree.

      Oliver

  • At first I thought "hmmm, this is sweet, another sweet, sad story", and then I thought "Oh, dear...um, no no no..." and then after the fight and the robot scene, I thought "The person who did this is on crack". And in the end, and the guy is sitting there slumped over with an N'sync cover in his hand - I fell on the floor laughing!

It was good humor. At first chilling, but later on - hilarious!

  • Hey, it's Oliver. Just wanted to give a great big hug and kiss to all of y'alls who dug my comic. Thanks for the feedback. I have an actual, printed (xeroxed) on paper comic called Disorder. If anyone wants a copy email me your address at [email protected].

And to those who didn't dig and/or understand the comic; no hard feelings. Fourth grade is tough. But keep at it and trust that you'll understand when you're older :)

    kisses,
