Wilder’s reasons for his choice of Morrissey's You Are The Quarry are also interesting – he's not a fan of Steven Patrick's music, but says he feels as a lyricist he'll only be regarded after he's gone. And, indeed, he’d love to get him onboard for a Recoil track.
...Morrissey - You Are The Quarry
Steven Morrissey is simply one of our most underrated writers or poets who, I believe, will only be fully recognised posthumously. Morrissey has quite a lot of detractors, even now. There's plenty of admirers out there, of course, but he's a love-to-hate character. He rubs people up the wrong way occasionally, and those things tend to overlook what he's most...
I hadn't heard of them until pointed in their direction by a Facebook link.
Anyway, the PS22 Chorus have done a great cover version of Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want. It's on their Blogspot page, but the Youtube link is as follows:
From the blogspot post:
On a whim at rehearsal today, I decided to try this song (one of my favorite songs from high school) on the PS22 Chorus, and what a perfect fit! This is "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" by The Smiths!
Check out Josh Caterer of Smoking Popes and Nina Diaz of Girl In A Coma covering Please Please Please last night at Webster Hall studio..they are on tour together. It was an amazing show! The video is at facebook.com/girlinacoma.
...My updated, improved (god knows so much cosmetic surgery was essential) repaired, revised, repackaged version of Meetings with Morrissey is now being published in F-F-F-French (!) by Camion Blanc on May 15th 2011. It's been re-titled You Know I Couldn't Last - Entretiens Avec Len Brown. No doubt all serious critical journalists will review it as Excretions With Len Brown so I may as well get the crap pun in first!
