NME: "Does Rock 'N' Roll Kill Braincells?!" - Billy Bragg (October 21, 2021); Smiths / Morrissey mentions

Yes and no. Didn’t he retract these words later by basically accepting that you can’t control who will listen to your music once it’s out there? I would think that it is a positive thing to reach a wide variety of people. What is the point of just wanting to preach to those already converted?

Johnny Marr - News At Ten - talks about reunion offers (October 21, 2021)

Just looked it up on Wiki, and Johnny Marr is credited for playing guitar on that Billie Eillish theme song, but he isn’t one of the composers. Perhaps it is better that way because it isn’t a very good song IMO though hugely popular.

Johnny Marr - News At Ten - talks about reunion offers (October 21, 2021)

The occasion is the James Bond movie and number one song with Billie Eillisch - if that isn’t enough to open door, what would then do the trick? But the Smiths got half of the time when you consider the snipeshots of music as well - not bad for a dead band.

Alain Whyte FB: reminisces about TV appearances (October 15 -> ongoing)

Alain is really good at entertaining us. Remember those Safe at home sessions from last year.

Morrissey Central "CAN YOU PLEASE STOP TIME ?" (October 20, 2021)

If the picture was taken in the late 70s, as some here suggest, Morrissey’s parents were already divorced and so his add (Peter) was already gone. But the ring is intriguing. Wedding ring blues.

    Morrissey A-Z: "You've Had Her"

@BookishBoy, sincere and heartfelt thanks for guiding us through Morrissey’s long discograph with such an incredible disciplines. It helped to full the voids and moments of solitude during the lockdown. It also confirms Morrissey’s impressive body of work, albeit far from perfect. Also thanks...

Morrissey attends Joan Collins in conversation - The Lowry, Salford (October 17, 2021)

Only the “rent-a-chap” boy is gone for good.

Morrissey A-Z: "You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side"

I wasn’t expecting much from YA based on the first single / EP, but this cracking opener bleu away all my doubt. Still hard to believe that the tune came from Nevin, what a difference a changé of producer can make.

Morrissey A-Z: "You're the One for Me, Fatty"

It’s obviously not one of his classics, but I still like to hear because it has a positive and uplifting vibe. At the time, I dedicated it to one of our cats, for the obvious reason that i was overweigh, so it brings back good memories. And I think Moz brings it back from time to time to keep...

Morrissey attends Joan Collins in conversation - The Lowry, Salford (October 17, 2021)

Interesting, I wasn’t even aware that Elizabeth re-marrie. Did Jackie then adopt the new husband’s name as her surname? And Steven chose to keep the old surname. TBH, Morrissey works better as an artist name than Rayner.

Morrissey A-Z: "(The) Youngest Was the Most Loved"

I am the youngest of 3 kids, but that doesn’t make me feel excited about this song. It flows well as part of the album, but I never understood why this was chosen as the second single. Thé Roman police sirène at the beginning is the best part of the song. I can’t help but think there was a...

Morrissey A-Z: "You Were Good in Your Time"

It is not a song that I listen to very often, so I couldn’t remember the tune anymore. It doesn’t stand out as his best tune on the album, but his words and voice are wonderful. I am also not sure that YOR needed a ballad at all, But it doesn’t bother me.

Morrissey A-Z: "You Should Have Been Nice to Me"

I wonder if this track was ever really finished (production-wise) or just abandoned when it became clear that SG would take an entirely direction? Agree with Gregor Samsa, a very decent and touching ballad that could have been even better with additional production.

Morrissey A-Z: "You Must Please Remember"

As Phranc & zopen rightly points out, this is a tranition song between the 2 EPs and SG. And that is probably the reasonn why I like this song better than half of the songs.that made it on SG. It has an atmospheric quality to it, a rough nostalgia and ame an old-fashioned sound. Excellent song...

    Morrissey A-Z: "You Know I Couldn't Last"

Your royalties bring you luxur. This one goes out to Mike Joyce. Many good lines and sharp observations here, and a fine song. Just thinking it could have been better still had it been given the YA style of more intense production.
