Now I'm a bit of a lapsed REM fan but I have recently re-found a tape in my collection that is simply labelled 'Green World Tour 1989'. It would have been taped for me by my mate Sam way back in the early '90's. I'm gonna list the songs and hope that someone on here can identify it for me.
Pop...
I agree, although they can't be compared directly, they are both absolutely brilliant lyricists. There was a lot of very good material demoed for WLL that wasn't included on the final album so a deluxe edition would be really worthwhile. Personally I prefer WLL to TIH.
Some Pulp fans have got together to try and get a deluxe edition of their final album, We Love Life, released. It was unfairly overlooked on first release in 2002 and the band recorded many songs that never made it onto the final album due to it's fairly long gestation period. Pulp's previous...
In my opinion the track is as dull as the proverbial. The funniest thing I heard was Lima being interviewed when he said 'those songs sounded a lot better when I was singin' 'em. They're alright if you like things soft' Don't usually have much time for either of em but that was a classic quote.
I have to add my voice to the choir and say that I am not a big fan of these remasters. Too loud, too much high end and distortion in my opinion. I have to confess to being flabbergasted that Bernard, of all people, allowed this to happen to his carefully crafted music. He's usually so anal...
Those MBV remasters will never come out, ever, ever, ever.....never. At least that's my opinion. Shame as it is about time that people remembered what great records they made. Have to rely on my old vinyl of You Made Me Realise.
Well I really wanna buy this but just like the Station To Station set it is just so expensive. Also, on a more humorous note 'remastered by Kevin Shields'! Shouldn't he be doing the MBV remasters?
Smiths Article in This Months Record Collector
Just a quick heads up to let everyone know that The Smiths are on the front cover of this months Record Colecctor magazine, an outtake from the Salford Lads Club shoot, and there is a fairly lengthy article about merchandise that is associated with...
In my opinion rather than the Smiths being conservative in their opinions I would say that they were often reactionary, upsetting the assumed viewpoint that many Conservatives had about youth culture and youths in general. Your 'free expression' point could well be the key point, are all...
Didn't see this posted anywhere on the site. Make up your own minds about it's central thesis. I would argue that there is a big differnece between Conservative (with a big 'C') and conservative (with a little 'c')...
C'mon guys lets not forget the greatest cat song of all, if one discounts the soundtrack to 'The Aristocats' of course, I am talking here about 'Lucifer Sam' by Syd Barretts Pink Floyd.
Morrisey is mentioned in this months Doctor Who magazine. the writer of an upcoming episode, Gareth Roberts, wanted to call his episode 'Something at the top of the stairs' because you can sing its title to 'Something is squeezing my skull' but it will be called 'The Lodger' instead. The preview...
Everybody should just calm down. I suspect that the demos will be little more than the rough instrumental deoms that Street is said to have sent Morrissey in the immediate post Smiths vacuum. It is very likely that there will be no Moz involvement at all, can you really see Morrissey allowing...
