Morrissey interview in the 'Legends' issue of 'Loaded' (Feb. 2013), out tomorrow

Re: Article: Morrissey interview in the 'Legends' issue of 'Loaded' (Feb. 2013), out That's one heavy interview. A verbal machine-gun assault with practically none left standing. He's wielding his critical Excalibur almost to the point of excess. A little lightness would be welcome amid the...

    Hugged Morrissey?

No, but I touched his.. arm.

    James. oh really?

I've created a monster. Let's separate Morrissey completely from the matter, move the thread to the music section and concentrate on the bloody-obvious badness of James.

    James. oh really?

That's a nice closure for the thread. People have no taste.

    James. oh really?

Probably not. But, man, their bad. This is getting a little childish, isn't it?

    James. oh really?

The point, more or less, was to ponder why Morrissey likes/liked their music. I find them totally repulsive, and it seems that I'm alone with that opinion. Seriously, I never would have dedicated a thread to the matter if I really didn't think so. I just find them soooooo awful. And the fact...

    James. oh really?

Well, I guess their not utter crap, but rank them as high as Morrissey's work, especially the amazing stuff (and there's plenty of that).. are you for real? Time for someone to re-read some lyric sheets.

    James. oh really?

"In the future when all’s well", if not the best work of Morrissey, is still light years away from "Waltzing". Hell, it isn't even the worst on Ringleader when it comes to lyrics. In my opinion "To me you are a work of art" is the real let-down of the album.

    James. oh really?

Well, these two are certainly better than "Waltzing Along", but still don't strike me as something I would describe as good lyrics. A little clumsy and tried.

    James. oh really?

I don't find this to be a "pile of shite", but if so, it at least works in the context of the song if not separately. "Waltzing Along" is just banal.

    James. oh really?

How can Morrissey give his support to a band which lyric-writing is this underdeveloped: Help comes when you need it most I'm cured by laughter Mood swings not sure I can cope My life's in plaster (in plaster) May your mind set you free (chorus: opened by the wonderful) May your...

What is it with him and Steve McQueen?

Steve Beatiful? Perhaps. Best movie of all time? Hardly. Did he lead a turbulent/sad/sorrowful life which makes Morrissey symphathize and relate with him?

What is it with him and Steve McQueen?

Where does Morrissey´s fascination in Steve McQueen stem from? He had a t-shirt with Steve on it in some photograph and a picture hanging on the wall of his Los Angeles home. Has he ever mentioned him in interviews? I just can't figure out the connection.

http://www.lettersofnote.com/2010/09/accept-me-for-what-i-am-completely.html I stumbled on this link on a Duran Duran forum(!) and I certainly haven't seen these before.. You ask what we'll be doing, well, after we've tied you to the rack, the bizarre Texan sex ritual begins. You'd never...

    Reinterpreting Hand in Glove

Well yes, but there is mundane and then there is Mundane. I would pigeonhole Weller for the latter.

    Reinterpreting Hand in Glove

If Morrissey ever released something as mundane (lyric-wise at least) as this Weller piece, people really would accuse him of losing the plot. This probably belongs in the Weller vs Morrissey- dispute but let it be known: Morrissey operates on a completely different level when it comes to talent...

Oh, what have I been up to lately..? Just the usual excessive worrying on the tedium and depression of everyday-existence. Haven't been feeling like contributing to the threads here on sunny-solo (what's the point?), but the Frink-thread is something I just have to check on a daily-basis. How...
