I can see where you're coming from on the Green Day thing but it was still great! Everyone rammed forward and I ended up about 6 foot away from the great man so for that alone it was worth it!
Would hardly say whole families mate...im 21 and my Dad is nearly 60. Considering his first gig aged 15 was Jimi Hendrix it's an honour to go to any concert with him!
What a gig that was!! Absolutely class from start to finish. Just back now and the place was rocking, never seen the Toon Hall like that before. Similar setlist to other shows but mixed up his new songs and didn't do them all in a row. Charming Man was the encore. Think Morrissey enjoyed himself...
The Waverley is the place to be pre-gig I reckon. Normally really busy before any other gigs I've been to in the Town Hall but think it could be heaving tomorrow night.
No long now guys!! :D
It will be the die-hards and the locals hopefully! I wouldn't call myself one of the die-hards but love love music and I'm certain he will never play in my hometown again. And if the local people can't support musicians playing the town then they will stop coming, simple as. Really looking...
Nice try mate! The stairs won't be there on the night as they are only put up for the Colour Bussing as part of the town's Common Riding (long story, Google it for more info). There will, however, be a big metal security rail infront of the stage!!
Afraid not....last bus is at 9.10pm and don't think the gig would be finished by then! Hope you can work something out. Even check out some B&Bs just outside the town (Denholm, Bonchester, Ashkirk) and get a taxi out to there after the gig.
From what I've heard most of the hotels/B&Bs in the town are fully booked. This site (http://www.roomfinderscotland.co.uk/mapsearch.php?townid=76) has most of the local places listed so try them and see. Also try the Hizzy Guest House (http://www.hizzys.co.uk/index.html) which isn't listed on...
If you want to see some photos of the venue have a look at this website (http://www.pbase.com/lesleyfraser/te) as most of the photos are from the venue taken by a local photographer last week at the annual Common Riding festivities. Not long to go now guys!!
Hi mate, I'm from Hawick and the way the gig will be (99% certain anyways!) will be all standing down stairs, upstairs for seating. There are fixed seats in the Town Hall upstairs. If you visit this webpage (http://www.pbase.com/lesleyfraser/image/135428744) you can see what the main seating...
Unless you know someone else going from Dunfermline think it is the only way. First Bus X95 is the one you want from Edinburgh to Hawick, get it every half hour from the bus station.
The Waverley pub will be the best pre-gig (if open on a Tuesday night!). Turnbull's cafe/restaurant just before the High Street is lovely. Parking in the Common Haugh (check Google maps for area). It's about 5 min walk to the venue from there, free parking for about 400 cars.
I'll be there - it is my hometown after all! As I've said in other threads if anyone wants any Hawick info then feel free to ask and i'll do my best to answer it for you!
on second thought think it could be closer to 200/250 seats upstairs. Think 1,000 is max capacity for the venue so with 750 standing, 250 seats could be right.
Standing is downstairs, upstairs is a seated balcony, some seats down the sides which often get shut off really close to the stage. There is about 100 seats or so upstairs in a block.
