Ok, being a healthy weight is a good thing, but do it for yourself girl, not for Morrissey. Devoted audience member that I am, I wouldn't change myself for him. Aren't his songs supposed to inspire us to be individual and accept who we are?
Re: Linder Sterling Q and A in today's Observer (UK)
I'm struggling to reconcile Morrissey's attitude to women with his interest in feminism. Has he had a lot of rejection from women? He seems to see them as either sexually voracious or fat, although he does seem to like mother figures.
I've been thinking that since I first registered here. Debate is good; disagreeing with another's viewpoint is fine, playful teasing and banter is fine, but then retaliating with personal abuse aimed at the poster is just spiteful and pointless.
"But Norrissey's success bred enemies. Fat women, many of them, for some reason." That made me laugh.....although for someone who sang about accepting yourself, he does seem very prejudiced against the overweight...bizarre.....
Brilliant review - very honest. ""Do you love me like you used to?" You make it hard, dear Morrissey, but some of us cannot do otherwise." Think many of us would agree with that:rolleyes:
Hasn't Morrissey always been quite fragile health-wise? I recall reading somewhere that his former assistant Jo Slee said he was always ill during the years she worked with him, which would be going back to the 1980s. I don't think he's ever been physically robust. His ill health is not a...
I love Morrissey, but sometimes he just goes too far! Childhood sexual abuse is a sensitive subject, and he obviously upset Ashley Storrie very much, and probably many other people. He needs to choose his wording more carefully.
I do hope Morrissey reads this. He needs to consider the consequences of his outbursts for one thing, and also to grow up and realise that not everything in life is black or white, good or bad....there are degrees of evil.
I've noticed this in regard to his songwriting too. Some of the lines in his Smiths work and his earlier solo stuff still make me laugh out loud. The wit and humour seem to be drowned out by bitterness these days.
That's disgraceful & offensive...but it did make me laugh...shame on me...
Puzzled by his answer to the question asking for advice on how to accept yourself:
"I don't think we ever do! I think we all die feeling apologetic and embarrassed. I'm as much of a mess now as I was when I was 16...
Ok, some of the questions are a bit sycophantic, and his comment about abattoirs and Auschwitz made me wince, but I still felt a thrill of excitement to hear that there's a novel and an album on the way. Must be unconditional love..
I thought that - bit out of the blue....was expecting a more traditional new year rant of some kind. Perhaps tomorrow we'll have a list of his favourite cheeses...
No Patti Smith? Joni Mitchell? The omission of Kristeen Young also seems a bit harsh considering how in awe of her talents and in love with her he claimed to be in his autobiography. And where's our Happy New Year message?:(
