Sorry for the off topic - I may be probably out of the loop (I live under a rock, after all), but what happened to True to You? Is SER now the official spokeperson for Morrissey and his family?
You know, that should help, but I think newspapers should absolutely check their facts. I don't know where the news that Sam was driving came from but it was and is reported on all italian newspapers, including the one I posted in another thread, which is probably the major italian newspaper...
For the sake of truth there was no mention of Sam on the quoted verbale of the polizia, just in the article. It was just la Repubblica screwing up as they often do.
Update: Sam has just written in his facebook page (comment in the photo post) it was not him driving the car and he was not in italy at the moment. What the hell?
This is getting more and more ridiculous.

Of course I was not transalting word by word, but the article you linked it's not the one I translated, which is still linked in the post above.
It concluded

Please don't take the police statement as literal truth. I have posted it just for the sake of complete documentation, but I can tell you italian police is very well inclined to lies and deception.
I think Sam did. Everyone here is assuming Sam screwed up but it's not the case; I've updated the post with the police statement; apparently Sam recognised he was in the wrong and took the ticket; d problems began to arise when Morrissey refused to identify himself.
I know being yelled at by...
I don't buy the police version, I must tell you. I think the car was certainly driving in the wrong way, but you don't stop and chat with a driver that you thnk is a terrorist (also explain how you stop a car at full speed; apparently you don't, as certain recent facts show). I know italian...
Hey just so you know, here is the police version from the italian newspaper "La Repubblica":
Roma, Morrissey litiga col poliziotto in via del Corso. “Minacce e urla” - La Repubblica
"Poteva uccidermi - accusa la rockstar - impugnava una pistola. La replica della questura: "E' arrivato a forte...
