Record Collector: Jim Reid (The Jesus And Mary Chain) on The Smiths debut album

I had a chance to see Big Country live in the good old days. Just feel very sad about the way it ended.

Record Collector: Jim Reid (The Jesus And Mary Chain) on The Smiths debut album

Love Darklands too and I still have to listen to their new album next month. Will see them live next month. I can see how the Smiths might be too subtle or gentle for them. After all, JAMC music is mostly a wall of sound with no deep lyrics. It doesn’t bother me though.

Sara Gilbert wears The Smiths with Carmen Vandenberg

Some of them keep in touch with each other and that is nice to see. A bit like Alain and Gustavo keeping in touch.

Irish Examiner: Culture That Made Me, with Broadcaster Tony O' Donoghue (March 4 2024)

Smiths more Irish than U2, I don’t know. More original than U2, absolutely.

Morrissey Central "Bonfire of teenagers" (February 7, 2024)

Easy to get lost in this long and seemingly endless saga, isn’t it? 3 years have now passed since we first heard of the existence of a new Morrissey album in an interview with Chad Smith. Unbelievable.

Morrissey Central "PESTANA PALACE" (February 27, 2024)

I agree but then why call it a hoax? A simple clarification would do. I don’t like the word ‘hoax’ in this context. It reminds me of a certain US presidential candidate whose name I would rather not mention.

Morrissey Central "PESTANA PALACE" (February 27, 2024)

An interview and photo shoot in Lisbon that people here can trace back gets dismissed as a hoax on Central? If Morrissey does not remember anymore where he was 10 years ago, well that isn’t a good sign to me.

UK Rock'N'Roll Magazine issue 238: Boz Boorer interview (February 19, 2024)

And bad for Morrissey’s public image.

UK Rock'N'Roll Magazine issue 238: Boz Boorer interview (February 19, 2024)

Does Morrissey ever do an official statement when a band member leaves? Morrissey only cares to write orbituaries.

UK Rock'N'Roll Magazine issue 238: Boz Boorer interview (February 19, 2024)

Me too. I don’t necessarily think there was a fall-out between them Boz was still playing with Morrissey on the eve of the covid breakout, just couldn’t be arsed to resume touring after the lockdown. But why not say so then?

UK Rock'N'Roll Magazine issue 238: Boz Boorer interview (February 19, 2024)

Nice to read that Jack The Ripper is one of Boz’s favorites, it is a live favorite as well and Morrissey seemingly can’t get enough of it. How about Morrissey recording one last album in Portugal with Boz as producer?

Morrissey is now being managed by Pete Galli of Red Light Management (February 12, 2024)

An earlier post in the thread said that Galli also managed Bones, Carmen’s band. So don’t expect him to replace Carmen. That being said, she may move on and work with other artists or on her own projects, and not be available when Morrissey needs a touring band again. The same goes for the other...

Morrissey is now being managed by Pete Galli of Red Light Management (February 12, 2024)

Mirrissey was advised to rest for 2 weeks, and these weeks have now passed ;) But you’re right, we shouldn’t expect anything to come out of this relationship too soon. My hope is that this guy will facilitate the release of BOT or WMTWD., that he will do the hard work of dealing with record...

Morrissey is now being managed by Pete Galli of Red Light Management (February 12, 2024)

Oh shit, I was hoping for a minute that Knutson was gone which would then open the door for Alain to rejoin his band. But certainly a positive step.

Guardian: "Offending Ringo and probing Thatcher: Tom Hibbert, the man who ‘brought the bonkers’ to Smash Hits" (February 6, 2024)

These were the good old days when I used to go to the English bookstore nearly every week to look at the British music magazines and buy one of them if it covered an artist that I liked. Lits of Moz and Smiths those days. Dude was Morrissey’s cat, but I think he stayed with his mother in his...

Official Manager Statement regarding Morrissey’s health (January 26, 2024)

I am also stunned to read this. JM is already playing Smiths songs with his band and singing them himself or inviting the occasional guest. Add to this that he can’t share the stage with Andy anymore, probably has no interest in inviting Mike back, and that all attempts to reunite Morrissey &...

The Smiths recording “Meat is Murder”

These were such exciting times, everything seemed possible and the future was so bright. And they all looked so good and lively. It’s hard not tofeel nostalgic.

What now? A frank and open deep conversation

We can only guess, but I don’t think it is the band. They are competent musicians who can learn new songs. First signs of physical fatigue ( or whatever health issue he’s battling with)? Fortunately, the setlist he kept repeating was solid, just missing the occasional surprises.

What now? A frank and open deep conversation

I like the idea of short residencies where he performs a different album (+ old favorites) every night. If at all possible, get the musicians that played on the albums with you onstage. This would be first on my wishlist. Some other ideas: - Compile a book including all the backdrops you hve...

Official Manager Statement regarding Morrissey’s health (January 26, 2024)

That one too, yes. But Johnny also said that he was drinking heavily at the time of the Smiths, and when asked about Morrissey, he answered that Morrissey was drinking red wine after the gigs. No mention of vodka at the time. To be frank, I admire Johnny for tackling his developping addictions...
