Morrissey Central Updated chart history (December 3, 2023)

I don't give a shit about chart positions. It is not an indicator of talent. I have friends who write songs better than anything on any chart and nobody has ever heard of them. It is absolutely, utterly meaningless to me how popular something manages to get. That is all right place, right time...

Morrissey Central Updated chart history (December 3, 2023)

I find Morrissey's obsession with chart numbers to be really bizarre. Half of his autobiography is filled with this stuff. Morrissey fans don't care if a song is popular. We just have the songs that mean something to us. Financial success or however much a mainstream audience accepts a song is...

New York, NY - United Palace (Oct. 22, 2023) post-show

Why not? Everything is comparable. It's that kind of comparing that led to my decision not to buy tickets for Morrissey's shows this week in NYC. Because if he's not going to make the show entertaining for me as other artists I am a fan of who put in effort consistently do, why should I spend...

New York, NY - United Palace (Oct. 22, 2023) post-show

Well...but isn't he though? His band certainly is. That's literally their job. I don't understand your posts. No one is debating whether Morrissey himself likes his own setlist.

New York, NY - United Palace (Oct. 22, 2023) post-show

I know I'm not famous, but at my shows, after years of gathering up songs, I printed out a list of 100 songs and handed it out to the audience. Or sometimes I would keep the list on stage with me but ask the audience to yell out a number. It was incredibly fun.

Hahahaha only 25 minutes on the subway is a blessing.

New York, NY - United Palace (Oct. 22, 2023) post-show

I can't tell if this is a joke or not, but it seems obvious to me that any odd assortment of Morrissey songs would be "perfection." I think this current setlist has a lot of great stuff. But so did older setlists. And so would hypothetical setlists that any one of us fans can fantasize about...

New York, NY - United Palace (Oct. 22, 2023) post-show

I agree. And more than that: wouldn't an artist WANT to do different songs, at least a few, every night? Isn't that more fun? Isn't music supposed to be fun? When I played shows I would do vastly different setlists all the time, partly to challenge myself, and partly because my friends who kept...

New York, NY - United Palace (Oct. 22, 2023) post-show

This is absolutely absurd. Of course concerts are meant to be attended night after night. Every single person I know does this, and if someone is a fan of an artist it's completely normal to want to see them when they're doing a run in your city. Every time I have seen a band do this, the band...

I once asked a Trekkie friend of mine why Star Trek fans seem to hate Star Trek. His response: "Exactly. Star Trek fans hate Star Trek." I always think that about Morrissey fans around here.

Shush. I freaked out when I saw him a few months back and he played The Loop. One of my favorite songs. I actually would be in heaven if Morrissey only played b-sides. But I agree in the sense that he should change his setlist when playing over and over again in the same city.

Oh my god. I was on set for days with Chloe Sevigny on a TV show being filmed. I wanted to talk to her about Morrissey so bad but it would have been very unprofessional. Love her.

Ok, someone has to post a picture of the soundboard and the guy with the hat.

New York, NY - United Palace (Oct. 21, 2023) post-show

Well, as a New Yorker, I have to say I'm glad I didn't buy tickets for these shows, as I suspected it would be almost the exact same setlist as the last time he played NYC, and I was right. I love a lot of those songs, but I really think if you are returning to a city in the same year, you...

Scott Rodger (Maverick) leaks Morrissey information and email re: Bonfire / Miley via X (October 17, 2023)

I can't stand Miley's voice. Please get her off of the track and put the damn album out.

Orlando, FL - Dr. Phillips Center - Walt Disney Theater (Oct. 7, 2023) post-show

I remember the first time I saw Morrissey I was really struck by the fact that nobody in the band smiled even once during the whole show. Playing music...is fun!

Independent.ie: Lloyd Cole Interview - with Morrissey anecdotes (July 2, 2023)

You're totally right, that wasn't the wrong term, I meant not aligning with a specific party, but then again he does kind of align with parties now and then, huh? He's an independent thinker, which is better than the alternative, for better or worse. We all should be.

Independent.ie: Lloyd Cole Interview - with Morrissey anecdotes (July 2, 2023)

This entire reply is what they call "whataboutism." No self-reflection at all, just more easy targets of bad stuff done by the right. You're not engaging with this at all. I ponder the outrageous lefties because its supposed to be my side and I am ashamed, and disturbed. Republicans being...

Independent.ie: Lloyd Cole Interview - with Morrissey anecdotes (July 2, 2023)

It makes plenty of sense, because politics need not be extremes, which you don't seem to realize. The specific issue was about defunding the police. The democrat was saying we should do it. I am in a city with a lot of crime. Defunding the police seemed like an insanely stupid and dangerous...

Independent.ie: Lloyd Cole Interview - with Morrissey anecdotes (July 2, 2023)

To the next Trumps, whether literally Trump or another opportunist who sees the culture war and knows what buttons to press. Jesus, even I voted for a conservative in a local election for the first time ever because the democrat was spouting a bunch of empty ideological nonsense speak and the...
