Here's Trolling For Olives: Out of Time-era.

Now, I have included in this folder the studio version of It's a Free World, Baby, which was on the Coneheads soundtrack in 1993 but I assume the recording is from the Out of Time sessions because that's when they demoed it. But I have always been a little unclear as to whether the finished version of this track comes from the Out of Time sessions or the Automatic sessions a year later. It was definitely demoed for Out of Time, but there are significant lyric changes between the demo version and the soundtrack version which implies that they might not have reworked it until the Automatic sessions...and they have other songs that they sat on for years, earlier on, and demoed and re-demoed before finalizing them, so who knows.

Sp perhaps the finished studio take belongs to Automatic. I don't know. Y'all can change it if you like; I'm going to a girl's house. More Trolling stuff tomorrow...

Document demos I have coming in a few minutes... (from "Finest Worksongs").

Here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/jjcjgj

- lineage: vinyl > FLAC > mp3-320 (that's what you've been using, right?)
- omitted tracks are Green demos that came mixed. The only Document ones are these.

Crap, I didn't see your edited post til now but I'm on my out the door. Thanks so much for these; I'll grab them tomorrow and add them to the project.

On remtimeline.com I only can find "It's a Free World Baby" on "Out of Time" sessions.

you got it, capt'n.

Don't get me wrong; they did some BRILLIANT stuff until the very end, and Collapse Into Now is probably in my top 5 albums of theirs. But my R.E.M. includes a farmer...

In other news, the Trolling for Olives Document playlist is imminent. In the meantime...

...as a sidenote to the Automatic/Monster stuff; here are two boots of the 1992 Greenpeace show at 40 Watt they did for Automatic that appeared incrementally as Monster b-sides. The lowercase one is an audience boot; the other is soundboard.

thanks, skylarker. on another note, i just got around this weekend of ripping my 5.1 surround albums to mp3...a whole new listening experience, especially for 'monster' in my humble opinion. if anyone's interested, drop me a pm.

Definitely. How does that work? Does the 5.1 quality transfer to rips?
