First, this is no real or credible danger of Sharia law becoming governing law in the United States. This is a myth pushed by opportunistic reactionary politicians and dubious right wing "news" sources. If you sincerely think that this is a real threat, please send a link to a credible news source that shows any large-scale effort to "impose" Sharia law in any community in America.

Secondly, the right's concern for the well-being of Muslim women is completely disingenuous. If conservatives really cared about Muslim women's rights, then they would encourage immigration from "repressive" countries, not suppress it. They would welcome women and children refugees, not block them from entering. And they would not continue to support repressive regimes like Saudi Arabia.

But, of course, the anti-Sharia hysteria has never been about women's rights or gay rights. It has always been a tool to promote restrictions on immigration and "anti-terror" military actions (often bombing Muslim women), and to prop us cynical politicians and increase viewership of sensationalist media outlets.

Of course that danger exists at least as a possibility. Maybe not today, but you can't dismiss anything in the future. An empire built on the basis of slavery promoting freedom around the world? Do I have to remind you about MacCarthy? The machiavellism of NSA? Invasions based on lies? What about Clintons opening the gates to their friend Trump? Nothing is impossible.

Egads! You really need to get out of the basement. Your mind is getting confused.

I'll leave your nonsensical Clinton/Trump statement alone, but regarding the Red Scare, it was "McCarthy" not "MacCarthy". More importantly, Joe McCarthy practiced just the kind of "they're invading our country and infiltrating our democratic institutions!" paranoia that you are practicing now. And just like today's cynical politicians, he was using it to promote his own political aspirations. Don't be a pawn in their game.

McCarthy's career basically ended on live TV when he finally went a step to far in his outrageous claims. As Joseph Welch famously said, "Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness...You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency?"

Obama spied on US citizens right and left, but nobody seems to care. If W spied on one evil doer, the left would go bat crazy.
LOL Right, there no commies in the govt left over from the FDR years., none whatsoever. :crazy:

Sorry for the typo. It seems it really offended you.

What I meant is that a priori you can't dismiss anything because you think it's socially impossible. Human societies accept everything.

Some years ago seemed imposible to think a modern society would accept renting human bodies to have children, like they already did with cows and other animals. But now, after some celebrities used the method, it is socially validated. And voilà, another kind of human exploitation was born.

I wonder when will be trendy to go to restaurants that offer human flesh in their menu.

Except for a majority of the masterpieces of art history and classical music. And Dante and Milton. Oh yeah, and the Hindu epics, Zen poetry, Rumi's verse, etc. etc. etc.

I agree that religion creates a lot of problems in the world, but it has inspired a lot of great art!!
Nah not convinced.

How old do you think these "FDR Communists" are!?!

You're right about one thing, Obama was terrible about NSA spying and handling whistleblowers. Don't expect me to defend Obama's failings just because he is a democrat!

What would it matter how old they are now? Probably dead now. But I thought we were talking the fiftiesa and McCarthy.:rolleyes:

At least you dont defend Pres Coconut. You dont diss him tho, as its probably racist to do so in your PC religion.:tears:

Did you actually just use the phrase "President Coconut"?! You are truly a hateful and sad person.

Could you provide some concrete examples of this please?

Hi there,

After reading your last response to me and your responses to other people, I noticed some common elements. No matter what's presented to you, whether it's a readily available poll with copious information that treats the questions you're asking in great detail, whether it's being asked in various ways to support what you're stating (beyond expressing strong feelings), or evidence contrary to your feelings, it's somehow not enough. I recently found that there's a name for the sort of thing you're doing, and it's called sealioning. Here's a brief definition:

"Sealioning is not predicated upon any implicit understanding of public/private space, but upon the premise that the asker is "sincere" and therefore all resources possible *must* be immediately diverted to teaching them, immediately. The resources that they could, with minimal effort find, are not the issue. They demand attention - your attention. All of it. RIGHT NOW. And they have no intention of listening, because it's your job to make them understand. It is a specific form of harassment. You may not look away, or point them to a link. You must spend all your time and energy. This isn't a sincere attempt at anything. It's a calculated technique to grind an opponent down."

(via Quora; there are any number of definitions available online)

You may genuinely want to understand why opponents of "the religion of peace" believe what they do. I realize that may be a possibility. We cannot do all the work for you, however. We cannot read and consider polls and books and articles for you. We do not possess the indefinite amount of time necessary to explain explanations and then the explanations to the explanations. There is a burden on the person making positive claims. Following from the absence of evidence in favor of your claims: "What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence."

Best,

S.

Pointless. They just are NOT very intelligent.:cool: Its beyond their understanding.

A wall of text to say that politics and religion are complex issues and that you're better than everyone else. That's really all it is.
A "wall of text" in the English language refers to someone who has written a large body of text and who has used no paragraphs or indentations or any other formatting or stylistic tools to separate the body of text into any sections. Seeing as how both "anon" and 12in are confused. You're welcome. :thumb:

The fact that your argument literally culminates in explaining that "anti-sharia" sentiment in the West exists primarily to promote immigration restriction, is not only mind-blowing to anyone informed on any of these subjects, but it must also be the statement that is precluding anyone from answering you or from trying to include your comment in any of the ongoing conversation in this thread.

These are nonsense statements, and your final one is probably too off the wall I think for anyone to even be willing to take the time to address seriously in return. But you do have an upvote from 12in, so there's that!

Are you genuinely motivated by a concern for women's rights and gay rights and do you speak on behalf of these rights in regard to anything other than Sharia law?

I am a woman, so yes, on your question as to the sincerity of my interest or "motivation" and concern regarding women's issues, and I am involved. And on the second point - also a yes. I have first hand knowledge of, and I have previously lived under a political regime where there was no such thing as gay "rights".

LOL mind blowing for sure. If it were not for immigration would be clamoring for a bit of sharia, maybe mixed in with a bit of fascism too. Dude is probably a troll, I mean WTF?

WTF are you talking about? There is only one language in this forum, english. What other language could I possibly choose.
Arabic? LOL dont know it.
In English, this is a football::football:
this is a book::greenbook:
this is not a book::spaceinvader:
this is not a football::satellite:

You cant change the meaning of words to fit your insane world view.:crazy:

Sister I'm a Poet strikes me as rather informed and eloquent and I happen to agree with him, as I often do, hence a “like” from me. I’m sorry that offends you. Furthermore, he/she doesn’t need to condescend on people to get his/her point across. Whatever valid points you may be making, they are unfortunately buried under your usual self-congratulatory and bitchy tone. Basically, what we learned from your posts in this thread is that you are the only one here who is informed because you watch the news in three languages, and that this forum is beneath you. Fantastic.
