Best venues to see Morrissey

Jones Beach Ampitheatre in Wantagh, NY would be nice. Saw R.E.M. there in a thunderstorm last summer......was a night to remember!!! Though I did see The Moz in The Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, NJ, capacity approc 1500.....that was pretty cool!!!

Barrowlands Glasgow. The place just reeks of atmosphere.
It was also the place where both my and my hubbys parents met and fell in love in the early 50's, a lot of jiving had been done on that springed floor.

Small is best, I've seen him at the M.E.N, Roundhouse and Gleneagle Killarney. Killarney was my favourite, small crowd nice and intimate.

I have heavenly memories of Vredenburgh in Utrecht, sitting on th balcony
lovely theatre,it's gone I believe, or redecorated

it was me first time, may 1 1991, Interesting Drug opening song

Got to be Sheffield City Hall for me as well. The grandeur of the Art Deco architecture and opulent decoration combined with the great acoustics always seemed to me to suit Morrissey. It is quite large but does maintain an intimate feel. When I first saw him there in '92 there was a pit and barrier but since the renovation a few years ago you can get right up to the stage and this year was really quite special, in my humble!

It's gotta be the Barra's :thumb:.

:thumb:Still holding out hope for next year...

Its the springed floor that does it! Barras has had more mentions than anywhere else - it wins;)

p.s. nothingwrongwithme I saw Shona Spurtle in Starbucks last week - it has been the highlight of my month haha!

I like it when he plays small venues that aren't just 'a room' so theatres or big ballrooms like Barrowlands (never been but I can imagine), what I'd love is for him to play The Ritz, Manchester.

Read it and weep.......GLASGOW BARROWLANDS!! Even matt Walker was blown away and is quoted as saying it's the best venue he's ever played!! The place is a temple for any gig!!

true ... the birthday shows in manchester were rubbish compaired to the two nights at the barras

i enjoyed the concert hall in glasgow , the playhouse in edinburgh , forum in london and le zenith in paris

Preston was smaller and more intimate, so was Blackburn, but his 45th homecoming concert at M.E.N. arena after 12 years away from the uk was just the best experience ever, and none in the future could ever compare to it, ever

Starbucks!! Themed breakfast my Aunty Arse ;)

the barra's gigs are the best I've been to. seen alot of good bands there but. I dont think another venue can rival it in anyway but for me it went went even higher when mz played there. something about him on those nights was indescribable.

I'm still holding out for the day when he plays ayr town hall. think I'll be waiting a while though

Having just seen Morrissey at the National Stadium in Dublin (and probably still experiencing a recency effect), i feel compelled to revise my 'best venue' to reflect the recent experience. National Stadium was crackingly good - best so far!
