Ummm.....I'm not "That" old, but I saw a few cool "I was there" gigs. These were more recent:

Dinosaur Jr./Nirvana/Mudhoney/Gumball-LA 90 or 91? Nirvana had not yet made it big at all, but they stole the show.

Jane's Addiction/The Pixies/Primus-LA, Dec 91' The infamous Birkenstock show

Depeche Mode/OMD/Thomas Dolby/Wire-Rose Bowl 88' the101 show, and my first "Real" concert.

I never saw The Smiths

I saw the Smiths only once, in 1986, at the National Stadium in Dublin. Brilliant gig, but I was shocked to find out later that Andy Rourke was high on smack for that show and could barely play the notes, and that was when they decided to replace him!

I just remember Morrissey dancing, completely wrapped up in the music. It was so beautiful.

I'm too young (18). I've been to loads of gigs and festivals but not really any that you'd call "i was there" gigs.

Does joy division supporting the buzzcocks count?

And The Smiths at queen margaret union in glasgow, just before 'what difference....' became a hit. Does that count? it was all bigger venues after that (barrowlands etc.)

BTW, did you know that Ian Curtis, Sid Vicious, and Kurt Cobain all killed themselves ( Sid accidentally, perhaps) after touring with The Buzzcocks??
Hmmmmmmmm. Who's supporting them on their upcoming tour?

...And you will know us by the trail........????

I was in an acoustic band in Houston and we openned up for this guy who sounded like a Folk Artist to me... It was at the last minute that the club called, needing to find an acoustic style openning band... It was before he made it big...

It was the now famous, John Mayer... (if that is how you spell his name)

I never saw The Smiths either, but....

I was at that Depeche Mode/OMD show at the Rose Bowl too. Does U2 in 1987 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ count? They filmed a part of Rattle and Hum there. Tickets for both shows were only $5 each night. But I stopped listening to U2 after Joshua Tree. How about The Cure (sorry) at (LA) Dodger Stadium in 1989? My first ever show was The Thompson Twins in 1984. I don't go to as many shows now. But when Moz and The Cure have their "farwell" tours, I definitely will be at most of those shows.

I don't think stadium gigs, by their very definition, could ever be included in an 'I Was There' collection. Sorry about that. Next!
