Interesting Drug white label etched 12" & ebay link

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could please advise.
I am having a tidy up of my Smiths and Moz stuff and came across a few versions of Interesting Drug.
One of the 12" vinyl is in the brown sleeve with the 'Special Etched Disc' sticker on the front (12POPS1621). The
Vinyl itself has the 2 tracks on Side A and the etched image on the B Side.
The centre label on both the A & B side are just plain white. On Side A it has 'Penthouse' , '12POPS 1621 A-1-1-1 '& 'What kind of man reads denim delinquent?' on the run out.
On Side B there is the etched image and nothing really else that I can see.
Could anyone please give me any information on this release?

Many thanks in advance
Simon

Many thanks for the link Del.
Unfortunately I couldn't really find any direct information that was specific to my original question.
Perhaps I overlooked something, and if possible, would appreciate a direct description.
Thanks again for your time

Simon

It would seem like you have a nice test pressing version of this record. Not very often a copy comes up with both centre labels being white.

Thanks for your reply mrellio.
I did suspect that it was a test pressing, but thought I would ask the people here for their advice.
I am systematically clearing my collection due to personal reasons and am once again asking for you advice as to the value of this item, as I intend/need to sell a large proportion of my music collection.

truly, thanks again
Simon

Hi Simon,

Price as always is in the eye of the beholder, but this is a desirable item and I'd imagine that you'd be in the few hundred pound range. It is very hard to be exact, but I'd suggest anywhere from 300 to 500 would not be unrealistic. I've been collecting Morrissey and Smiths stuff for over 30 years and I've only ever seen one other that you are describing. Could go for more, could go for less depending on current market, but I'd be inclined not to sell cheap.

I have to go out for a bit but if you'd like to chat about it more, drop me a line at [email protected] and I'll get back to you, or on here; either way is fine.

Thank you both for your input and advice,
I now know that it is a test pressing and pretty rare, along with a ball park value.
I do intend to sell the item, so could anyone please give their thoughts on whether EBay or Discogs would be the best place to sell it. (or perhaps here?)

Thanks again

Simon

Is it a white label or a light pink? I have seen light pink label test presses of this record but never a white label. Can you please post a photo?

Hi roky
I have uploaded all the photos that I am using on Ebay.
Hope this helps & any input will be appreciated

All the best
Simon

I couldn't find any information about the vinyl prior to posting the initial question in this thread, that's why I came here to ask for expert advice.,and many thanks to those who have given it .
I agree that it looks as if a blank label has been stuck on, but have tried to show the record as best that I can in the photos.
I am guessing that the text/matrix on the run out is the all important part?
Any further advice/ is always welcome

I have posted the best pictures that I could get within this thread. I think one of them clearly shows the word 'Penthouse'. The next photo shows 12PoPs 1621 A-1-1-1 quite clearly. I couldn't capture all of the 'What kind of man reads denim delinquent' in one shot, so separated it into two photos.
I will try again to take some more photos, but I took about 40 to just get the ones that i selected to post here.
I have been in contact with an experienced member of this forum and they are confident it is a test pressing.

Cheers
Simon

Just for information:
I have closely examined the label and am sure that it has not been tampered with in any way.
The edge of the label runs in seamlessly with the vinyl. (It has no raised section where it meets the vinyl, as a label planted on would have)

I hope this helps clear things up?

Simon
(I have had this item for over 20 years.)

Nothing amiss here. This is a genuine Test Pressing for the etched 12" , as described on PJLM

UK 12" test pressing [HMV 12POPS1621]
The test pressing for the etched 12" has plain white labels with nothing printed on them on the music side, and the regular etching on the reverse. The music side features two songs, as it should.
