Why would that be your point? Yes America has legislation that regulates the market but it's been under pressure since the 1980s when Monetarism came to dominate economic thinking - it regulates the flow of money but pretty much nothing else.
There's never been a completely free market - but advocates push it as far as they can.
The free market would allow a monopoly.

There's enough free market principles in America for a handful of tech billionaires to dominate their market.
If they break that market up that'll be the American government going against free market principles.

Really what world do you live in? You think they got their under their own steam? You don’t think their are lobbyists in DC every single day doing deals on the side? You don’t think little things like campaign contributions don’t play into a politicians decision making? You don’t think say insurance companies don’t have a massive say in the way healthcare policy in America is shaped?
You didn’t read that Wikileaks drop where it turned out that Citibank chose 90% of Obama’s cabinet? Now why would they be doing that?

Karen also thinks that certain cities putting together a tax exemption plan for Amazon (but not their rivals) so they will build a base there is also the 'free market.'

What about the free market would stop the government having business to give to companies it likes, would stop them creating legislation that makes it easier to do business & would stop them making tax exemptions?

It's more comical that you think the free market means governments can't be customers - it means they can't create regulations that limit the market. Cronyism would only be stopped by legislation that limits the market.
