I've Changed My Plea to Guilty

I keep hearing:
"I am standing in the dark,
with my innocent hand on my heart"

However according to WWW the lyrics are supposed to go:
"I am standing in the dock..."

Is it really "dock"? Doesnt "dark" make more sense regarding the "inside" and "outside" references later in the song?

Oh, yeah and this is probably one of Moz's best songs ever.

WWW?

It's dark as far as I know...

I just checked My Early Burglary Years and the printed lyrics show DOCK...

Interesting indeed...

WWW = Internet ... since I don't have the album with the lyrics sheet.

I can't find the thread here that I saw recently... but it is dock. It's the British equivalent of "being on the witness stand", which makes sense.

Oh, I see:

Main Entry: 6dock
Function: noun
Etymology: Dutch dialect (Flanders) docke cage
: the place in a criminal court where a prisoner stands or sits during trial
- in the dock : on trial

Makes sense now. Thanks!

Can we post a link to this thread on that one? :D

maybe we could do a poll on which of the 2 threads is our favourite? :)

love
