Hello Slackers! The podcast that unearths the artists early demo's is back for another week. On our next episode of Season 2 our guest is one of the most influential guitarists of the last 50 years. He's played with The Smiths, The Cribs, Modest Mouse, The The and more. This week Johnny Marr brings to the table a very early demo of a The Smiths song called Jeane.

For those interested. I’ve not heard the podcast yet, so haven’t listened to the demo to know if it’s previously unreleased. I’d be surprised if it was.

Lost and found

Nothing in particular
I quite liked the way he talked about their songwriting sessions with Morrissey. And their relationship. If I'm not mistaken, he said something like "It was great that we were so different as persons - it still is".

Here's the MP3 of the podcast without needing any apps to listen to it:

I had a quick listen and don't think Jeane is anything unknown to us.

FWD.

Johnny mentions this recording of Jeane was a monitor mix used on the b-side of "This Charming Man". He said it was unusual that that version was released, but it's a snapshot of what the Smiths sounded like prior to being discovered by the world.

I understand why he’s always talking about the smiths but I’d much rather hear a demo of something from call the comet or the messenger. The smiths well seems dry
