Is there a programme on sale? He could rake in a few quid with a nicely laid out programme that gave some context and explanation for his random collage of influences.

I have no idea what his interest in Getrude Stein is, other than to add to his spurious claims to be an intellectual or to understand intellectual giants. When you add in his random use of 'signifiers' such as Sir Tom Jones, Sir Cliff Richard and Steve Strange without any context or explanation, it just appears a mess, no different to any other blog/Pinterest cultural curation. That's all he's ever done, magpie nick various obscure or 'hip' images/poems/music and present his taste as somehow radical or remarkable.

I'm glad someone else noticed the Steve Strange thing. I was extremely surprised to hear there was a mini tribute to Strange last week. If there is a style of music which you would imagine Morrissey would loathe (alongside reggae) it's the new romantic movement. As Morrissey is hardly known for his forgiving nature I would have thought Strange would have been very high on the Death List.

Jesse Tobias.

How could some of you people stand his heavy-handedness on guitar?

He just completely detracts from so very many songs with how he plays.

It's Maddening.

Was that at the Cardiff gig? If so, he may have said it due to Cardiff being so close to Porthcawl.

Again with your mirror hours?
Do you know their meanings at least?

And so many great songs are destroyed by awful singing. It's maddening. How can anyone stand bad singers?
(Actually it got to the point now where I admire Jesse Tobias for how he deals with this situation of being slagged off every single day. He has endurance, not unlike Moz.)

Great gig, not been to see him for 4 years so it was nice to see him looking really well and singing brilliantly. He seemed in great spirits and interacted well with the crowd, he mentioned he'd been driving around Harrogate and saw youngesters with dead cats in their hair or something, made me laugh anyway.

Also managed to grab his shirt but the stand off was immense, I let it go after a few seconds, I'm sure I could smell his aftershave on my hands though. So not all bad.

Trouble Loves Me, Stop Me and Crashing Bores were highlights.

He's still the Mozfather. I'll always love him

You should've fought harder! Haha! AMAZING opportunity, gal! Glad you had a roaring time.

This is SO true. And the pity is that the cordial conversation can be taken seriously and might make people
think but is ruined by the nonsense bile.

BB I have the impression it would be impossible for Morrissey to satisfy your expectations.

It's pathetic the way you and Benny, faced with a well attended and by all accounts enjoyable show, try to wring and
twist a negative story out of a few facts.
Look !!! Black curtains !!!! Pathetic.

Find some new music you like. Find an artist who fulfils all your expectations. Are there any ?
Why not spread some positivity instead of the negative nonsense you post here.

I am a consumer. Either the cultural product satisfies or not. I thought WPINOYB was excellent so I'm deciding whether or not to go to the Birmingham concert. Is it worth it as a consumer experience? Or for the amusement value of watching him sing 'Meat Is Murder' whilst digesting Cheese?

Why is critically analysing these performances so enraging for you? Why don't you provide your own meta-narrative of positivity about Morrissey instead of bellyaching about my perspective? Of course, Morrissey is renowned for taking the trouble to 'spread some positivity', isn't he? *smirks* What about Morrissey's 'negative nonsense' referencing suicidal poets before the show starts and showing torture/slaughter porn to bolster his absurd position on animal welfare/rights?

There are many artists whose work and public performances I have found congruent. Most recently that would include Kate Bush and Kraftwerk. It used to include Leonard Cohen until the facts about his Zen sex abuse guru surfaced, now he's on the suspect list alongside Morrissey.

So, instead of bitching about me, why don't you register a profile and provide your detailed arguments as to why you think Morrissey is still a compelling figure rather than a pantomime villain/troll clown? I can't wait to read it.

At the time when 'Fade To Grey' was high-profile Morrissey was indeed joylessly slagging off the 'New Romantic Sythesizer Movement'. He also suddenly decided to express his admiration for Andy Fraser of Free at Cardiff. The key reason being that both are dead before their time hence their fate renders them suitable to add to his canon of doomed souls. I've no idea if he was indeed friends with Steve Strange or made his admiration of his work clear to him and/or Andy Fraser before they died. Andy Fraser was a tormented closet case before coming out and getting Aids/Cancer and various other sad dramas. Perhaps it is the doomed autobiographical details and early deaths which suddenly prompts Morrissey to reconsider artists as valuable? Morrissey is like an undertaker vacuuming up the dead for inclusion in his pre-concert 'altar of influences': Lou Reed, The Ramones, Klaus Nomi. All dead, all fashionably car-crash lives before they expired. He's a bit of a ghoul as far as I can see. If I was Buffy Sainte Mairie I'd have a food-taster on my rider!

First of all that poem isn't ABOUT Gertrude Stein and secondly I'm 16 and loved the reading of Matisse. Actually even Morrissey himself isn't assumed to be the kind of music an averege teenager of today would enjoy and be mad about (well, in the eyes of the general public of course) and yet there are so many young people at his shows, it's beyond remarkable. Morrissey once said that young people are often to easily dismissed and I agree completely. Morrissey's music is timeless and for everyone. It is enjoyed by all generations. And I think it was always his aim since the beginning of the Smiths and I think it was pretty clever and I believe it's one of the reasons I don't enjoy Johnny Marr that much (even though I really want to). He is stuck in these 'Indie' circles which doesn't lead you anywere. (And now I'm waiting to be dismissed by much older people who are around 'since day one')

you are great! it's your taste and opinion, it's important to have it - authentic. don't bother if older reply with their dogmas in a form of dismissals - it's all about their taste, opinions and sometimes written with their wish for their better past. :)

no one has 'seal of approval' about taste, it's fundaments are personal preferences.

p.s. i'm so glad youngs write here - your opinion counts, you should know:). kind regards.

How can you analyse performances when you were not there, I would argue, you analyse comments and then put your spin on them.

Any idea what time he came on at?

Heading for Glasgow tonight but running late.

Yes, that's called 'meta-analysis'. I suppose I should just re-post images from social media or spot chicken shapes in photos like CG? Why don't you interrogate her for the reasons behind her bizarre interjections into gig threads. She's in California. What's it got to do with her when Morrissey play UK dates?

Are you sure it was cologne? It might have been wee. Did it smell of cheese?

I thought I'd give this site a rest and stick to Instagram and FB for updates on Leeds. Fantastic images from hundreds of people who had a great night, clear evidence that the show was well attended and that people were leaving with big smiles on their faces. And then I make he mistake of coming back here for the Brummie slagoffathon. And once again Morrissey is being held personally responsible for the lack of big screens *rollseyes*. Just goes to show that whilst you can be happy, there's always someone gleefully waiting to be the killjoy.

It got a little broken up when God hit print, the leg got separated, the wattle wound up on the head, the comb wound up on the lady's chin instead of the rooster's head, but all the parts are there. :D Channel your inner Picasso to see it without my outline. I do see the dachshund though!

All good points. I just see him as shifting from fighty guy to means-no-harm guy which are COMPLETELY different people, even to him in his head as he;s being him, but he's subjected to being mocked as a whole and I see his parts, so to speak. I can't explain it.

No, you can offer no rational explanation but cling the the shipwreck. But you can see chickens in photographs of a concert from Leeds? WAIT! Now I understand the 'sign' you have been given!!!!!

Is Morrissey 'chickening out' of walking the talk on animal rights, perhaps? Is it a protest by one of the chickens who appeared in the PETA video for 'Someday'? Returning to sadly ask Morrissey why he is STILL selling cheese, using bodily fluids of chicken's friends, the cows? Is his menu egg-free at his concerts?

"Every year, dairy calves are orphaned, stuffed into severely crowded sheds, and trucked to slaughter.

"Someday," a new video created by PETA and animated by Anna Saunders, is scheduled to be featured on rock icon Morrissey's nationwide tour. The video takes viewers on a harrowing journey as they witness—through the eyes of one terrified bird—the realisation that Morrissey is STILL eating cheese and responsible for the deaths of chicken's friends, the new born dairy calves"
