oh my god
oh my god
oh my god

bbc 2
a crappy memory lane video show,

1984.

and ive just seen the smiths performing on telly for the first time in my life...
words cant describe how good it was but ill give it a try:
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
first it showed our shifty eyed mancunian friend prancing like a tit in a housing estate,
''so, so'' i thought to myself,''thats to be expected...''

then it showed a top of the pops nugget...

and oh my friends,

OH THE POWER AND THE GLORY.

i swear my socks shot off, there they were, seamlessly fantastic, the audience going bananas, unleashed for the first time by a man from dour manchester,a man like them yet not like them, wreathed in stardom,a punch in the crotch of the media whores,
morrissey really enjoying himself, dragged at by hundreds of hands, like some returning saint,
a far flung marble edifice, resplendent in his blinding homo-erotic glow, shirt in ribbons around a sweet-heart-waist,the whole of human existence contained within a few crafty lines and well spaced chords, love, pain, boredom, shit and despair, hoping and never having...

i felt something alright.
i guess it is the ''something''that people go to church for.

morrissey,
so wonderful and strange,so peculiar.
truly one of natures more original creations,
him and marr like brothers.

ive never seen anything like it.

have i been living under a rock?

oh the hair!
oh the tunes!

oh the smiths!

then marr said a few words..

it looks like his hair has just fallen from space...

oooh hes a crafty one.

i trust him even less than morrissey.

but together they were a monolith.

sweet marys behind!!! i never knew morrissey used to be THAT good.

sure i knew he was special but by golly im truly astounded that a group as spectacular as the smiths werent immediately crushed by the sweaty industry fist in order to cease their subversive magic and wicked nerd-freeing powers.

Dear Pillow, you should...

lay your grubby hands on a copy of Morrissey's 'Hulmerist' video. You'd love it. Alternatively, there is a video with the 'Old Grey Whistle Test' Derby Assembly Rooms Special from 1984 or thereabouts that is absolutely wonderful.

Feck it anyway, I was going to stay up for that programme but I didn't think they'd be on it.

Aye, there are times I'm glad I'm old and lived through it. He has indeed been wonderful since day one.
