Morrissey interview in El Pais (Uruguay)

Gregor Samsa

I straighten up, and my position is one of hope.
Seeing as your responses indicate you clearly haven't read mine, nothing about you inability to follow a thread or a user comment history would surprise me. Please remain at a complete loss, preferably loss of consciousness.

Again and again, the same old refrain. Mocking his moves on an internet site in between rounds of golf is hardly an obsession. A mate of mine is in the grip of an online poker habit, now....that's 'obsession'.

Gregor, you need to stop drinking that Drama Queen potion! Morrissey is the 'old man, sitting and ranting, whingeing, being rude, obnoxious'

Your attempt to covertly introduce Ageism as a relevant criteria for assessing contributions to web forums wouldn't be so tragic unless that forum was about a failed 'pop star' called Morrissey who is OLDER than me. His age, however, is the least of his problems.
As for 'heartbreaking' I assume you aren't 14? In which case allowing your heart to be broken by somebody on a web forum disagreeing with you is beyond silly. Morrissey is the 'cautionary tale', not me.

The risibile reality is that Gregor, Thewlis, Poet and all the rest of the Cult Casualites simply cannot put me on Ignore and get on with their lives. Which raises the question: Why are they so obsessed with me? The answer is simple. When people like me, Benny, Barleycorn and others pause commenting, these threads wither and descend into an echo chamber of fatuous self-gratulation. Without our contributions, this web-site would wither and die. There is nothing stopping the Cult from protesting with their feet and stomping off to allyouneedismorrissey.com where they can be assured of a nice, safe controlled environment. The truth is, of course, that they know there are serious problems with anyone with a brain taking Morrissey seriously now, but they simply do not have a credible response. Other than to suggest that only those younger than Morrissey should follow his dismal career failure. How young? 14? 18? One glance at the balding heads of his audience at gigs shows very, very clearly that most of his audience are within a decade of Morrissey's age.

TL;DR Ageism-epicFAIL!

What does your user comment history has to do with what I said? I never claimed you've never liked Moz.

No, I think it's you. Morrissey is out there singing, making records (albeit not too many records nowadays!), in between his whingeing and ranting. What do you do? You hang around here every day, ranting endlessly about stuff you hate. See the difference?

Yes, Moz is older than you. You're 55, like I said, and he's 56. So? The only thing about your age that made me write what I did, was the fact that it's tragic that an aging man like yourself spends this much time being rude, arrogant, obnoxious, infantile and frenetic on a forum dedicated to a pop star he now despises. I just think it's sad that a man at your age can't find something better to do. That you've ended up like this is disgusting.

When will you put Moz on ignore and get on with your life? It's been going on for far too long.

And for the love of God. One isn't a "cult casualty" simply for not following your way of mind blindly, despising Moz and everything he says or does. You must let that idea go. It's old and it doesn't make any sense. And besides, don't you want to indoctrinate everybody into thinking and behaving like you (at least when it comes to Moz)? Isn't that what this delusional debunking business is all about?

Age shouldn't effect who you listen to, of course, that's not the point, but at 55 one really should've found something more sensible to do than ranting incessantly on fan forums. Are these tinfoil-hat posts of yours really what you want to leave behind?

Yes, Brummie, Skinny en Barley are all in or close to their 50s. And they claim to only have liked the Smiths in 1984 and 1985.
Yet 30 years on they frequent the website dedicated to the singer of that band to proclaim that he really was not very good after all

They are reaching whole new levels of being sad day after day.

I have a while to go yet to the half century, and I've never claimed to like the Smiths anything other than totally. In fact I carry every Smiths song around with me with the exception of Death At One's Elbow, the Marr instrumentals and those rotten b-side cover versions, which, if rumours are true, were central to the break up of the band. It would be helpful, therefore, if you stopped making shit up.

I loved Quarry, was relatively unmoved by the two albums that followed, with three or four exceptions over both, and thought/think World Peace was the biggest load of shit he's ever puked up. Worse even than Kill Uncle. Sales appear to confirm this view. As Argentina, Venezuela and, with the impeachment of Dilma, perhaps Brazil too, turns its back on the left in South America, even Morrissey's political standpoint, always the smallest of minority opinion, is being rejected across the globe.

The Internet has destroyed Morrissey's reputation by shining a light on just how nasty he actually is. Before there were rumours kept under wraps by his bullying and aggression. Now it's out in the open, often from his own mouth. Not pretty, is it? He's not unlike Elton John in many respects. He's famous for hiding his sexuality for decades, and for being a precious Prima Donna into the bargain.

Your synthetic shock at BB's age would be more authentic if you could tell us why you hang on the every vile utterance of Morrissey, aged 56.

What's tragic is that you are stupid, so stupid you do not read replies before putting your foot back in your mouth. Once again, what's tragic is that you have NOTHING positive to say about Morrissey but cannot stand to hear anybody criticize him. That does indeed make you a Cult Casualty. The problem with your superficial analysis is that I don't comment 'incessantly' and take breaks, sometimes days, weeks, months or years. I only really crank it up when Morrissey provides the target to aim at, as he has done so spectacularly in recent weeks with his preposterous nonsenses about Paris and the TSA. What exactly do you think is so meaningful about Morrissey's sad life? And is singing 'The Queen Is Dead' at 56 really 'sensible' or is it the last desperate fart of a has-been? In point of fact, I was initially enthusiastic about WPINOYB, which you'd have noticed if you actually read my comments, which clearly you don't. However, once it became apparent that it was just more bullshit, that he was only trying to tether himself to 'Occuppy' politics to appear trendy, I found it revolting to listen to.

I'm amused by 'sensible'? What do you think is 'sensible' behaviour for a 55 year old? I play golf, that's sensible. I've got an Arsenal season ticket, that's probably not really sensible. What else? I'm rich and have travelled to 7 different countries on holiday this year. I'm not sure if that is 'sensible'. You are a very stupid person. You do not read the stories before commenting on threads, just as you dont' read comments before replying. Other than acting like a hissy fit Drama Queen, which is entertaining, you provide absolutey NOTHING of interest. Shouldn't you find something more 'sensible' to do whilst pretending to be at work?

Wonderful and insightful posts, Thank you Gregor. One can only try to make him(BumblingBoy) see the light. The 'light' being.. that coming on this site and complaining about what M says or does is not going to change M or others or the world, and it's not going to help himself anymore,no matter how 'amusing' he thinks his sickly imaginative posts are. SAD. Just goes to show....

'you can't teach an old dog new tricks.'

What on earth makes you think I want to change Morrissey or his delusional Cult Casualties? Your problem is that I find him and you hugely entertaining. And don't forget: You live in your own private reality so nothing you say is of any consequence to anyone else. Is it? LOL!

Hi Sir Barleycorn,

I do take slight umbrage at that last line. I don't think Thewlis or anyone with any sense would take what M says and describe it as 'vile'. If they did...then I really don't think they would bother to 'hang on'.

The only ones who would describe what M says/does as 'vile' ...ARE the ones who ARE STILL
HANGING ON! And THIS is where the shock comes from. This hanging on to a 56 year man who they can not stand. WTF!??

NOW that's REALLY INSANE.

Morrissey is a VILE TROLL. But he is also hilarious as he skids towards oblivion. I find monitoring his bizarre behaviour, outfits and outbursts to be hugely entertaining. I also find 'I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!' to be entertaining. Your problem is that you impute a significance to my irreverent debunking which simply isn't there. There are so many entertainers who I regard as vile but Morrissey is a useful shorthand signifier for all of them, as he goes to such absurd excesses to try and get attention. If I could push Morrissey off a cliff into a frozen sea, I would do so, but I can't, so I'll just have to content myself with mocking and jeering at his every ludicrous excess whilst waiting for him to die/retire/be commited to an insane asylum. Or I might get bored and find a new hobby.

You really think that most people who comment on web forums do so because they really 'care' about the topics discussed? I have news for you all: the science shows that people do it to get a feeble dopamine rush in between their other pleasure-seeking activities. Not as big a rush as a snort of cocaine or a blowjob, but about the same level as an espresso coffee when you log on and seek absolute fools like you rising to the bait and responding. If you really thought I had nothing to say, you'd ignore me. But you can't because you know I have Morrissey by the short and curlies. Metaphorically. He is full of shit. A vile troll and he should be thrown off a cliff by ISIS. With the video posted online.

If I was addicted to online poker or gonzo porn I would be concerned. But flicking to this site provides ENDLESS ENTERTAINMENT which helps balance out the serious topics which I spend most of my time researching and analysing. Having failed to fit me into your 'Mom's Basement' meme you will all now try to concoct another one based on ageism to appease your distress. Please carry on, knowing only that EACH AND EVERY TIME YOU COMPLAIN spurs me on to do it all AGAIN AND AGAIN!!! See, I even provided some CAPS LOCK frothing and exclamation marks for you. Have a few emoticons as well to shove up your arse. :):p:crazy::thumb::lbf:

Exploiting the Neuroscience of Internet Addiction

Much of what we do online releases dopamine into the brain's pleasure centers, resulting in obsessive pleasure-seeking behavior. Technology companies face the option to exploit our addictions for profit.

"What's tragic is that you are stupid" wow. What a comeback.

And nothing positive to say about Morrissey? Sure I do, I just don't go and blab about it here. I tend to comment mostly when buffoons like yourself spew your insanities all over the boards.

Moz has made something of his life. Created something. Something that most of us here take to heart, and he has done so for more than thirty years. What is sad about it? Sure, he's in a sort of decline now, but it can change (like it's done before). He's out there singing, meeting his fans, touching people. What do you do? Play golf and come here and behave like a troll. It's pathetic (the trolling, I mean).

And season tickets to bleeding Arse-n-all is never ever sensible, no matter what age one is.

Agree ! :thumb: It's sad. And that he even admits that coming here and posting his sickening dribble and reading M's TTY posts are for him a source of 'entertainment' ? leaves one speechless. His replies to other posts and thread topics are full of assumptions and bizarre twistings of what is actually being said. Now,YES we all see things differently...But to go on and on and on with his campaign of hate is tiresome and worrisome.

And plays golf too! Amazing, how does he find the time? Though maybe he should do it more often.. And leave this site alone.

Please understand, 'Ketamine Sun', you make me LAUGH OUT LOUD! There is no 'hate', just fun. You insist it's motivated by hate but I can assure you-if I bumped into Morrissey in Waitrose I'd simply flash an enigmatic smile and walk on: after checking his shopping basket for cheese, of course!

It's really disgusting when you wish death upon Morrrissey, or insinuate that it would be better if he was dead. So unbelievably deranged and in such bad taste.

And yeah, I mainly come here for the news, and only feel arsed to post something when the foolishness gets out of hand, mostly thanks to you. I don't feel the need to tell the world exactly how I feel ALL the time, unlike yourself.

And of course pop stars or artists aren't the only ones who do something with their lives. A lot of people do. My grandmother, for example. But I fail to see how an obsessive middle aged man who spends this much time on a fan site dedicated to a person he despises could possibly have done something with his life. You come across as someone who has missed the train, as it were.
