I don't know what you are talking about, but when the religious leader and the political leader are the same person, that is a dictatorship for sure. People have no way out.
What I’m talking about is in my somewhat large personal experience of living all over the world  that when I’ve done so in countries with a long history of having totalitarian regimes in charge, whether they be kingdoms, caliphates, pseudo Marxist, corrupt capitalist or whatever flavor.
Fact is that is the tendency which remains, democracy or even just a constitutional Republic takes centuries of hard work and trial and error to develop so speaking of so many places which are still just emerging from the darkness of autocracy and saying that they are now This Way or That Way bout as useful well, honestly, Cornflakes already said it better :thumb:

I thought I was being clear but, at the risk of repeating myself, I was proposing that people should eschew commentary from anyone who has taken proper time to study social history and comparative religion, and instead go barking mad over of the random opinions of Youtubers. Nothing is ever solved by actually trying to understand it.

Sorry, I still don't understand your point of view. Maybe because I have an aversion to trojan horses. It's possibly a natural atavistic fear. I can't digest the idea that everything is a religion, even less a system designed by an ancient soldier to conquer the world, and even less when they are winning the battle and the fragile human rights will end very soon their short historical existence.

And you're complaining about not understanding me!

It's my fault when I d0n't undertand people who don't talk clearly, as if they were afraid of saying things just as they think they are. As if we were living in a dictatorship or something like that. Are we?

What do you imagine I'm afraid of saying?

Only the things you hide with euphemisms, which are a way of disguising truths that can not be pronounced without suffering serious consequences. The problem with the exercise of freedom is that it allows to speak clearly without euphemisms and that, sometimes, is intolerably risky. That is why freedom is not for everyone.

The insane ramblings of Chezz, Chairman Mao, Skinny and his sock puppets are NOT commentary by peeps who have taken time to learn anything. They are basically insane left wing propaganda from left wing blogs and rags like the Guardian. Articles about Chinese Democracy and other types of loon insanity.

Taken time to learn comparative religion:crazy:LOL time to learn Islam.:guitar:

I thought you were being VERY clear, but I guess that some people, even some people who frequent morrissey-solo.com, must be, erm, 'hard of understanding'. We should keep an eye out for them. If you see someone who appears to hold beliefs which no-one could hold unless there's something wrong with them or they've been brainwashed, that's a tell-tale sign.

I don't think you have any idea what Brexit was about. Immigration was only a part of why the majority voted Leave. The EU has controlled our laws and who we can trade with, their regulations have strangled our industries and all but destroyed our fishing industry. Oh, and Comrade Corbyn wants to nationalise our major industries; he can forget that if we're still in the EU because they won't allow it (which is why Corbyn is quietly pro-Brexit).

Over time, by stealth, they have been exerting ever greater control and limiting the power of our own parliament. Brussels issues a new law: it's enshrined in UK law. We have no say and cannot overturn it, no matter which party we vote for. And we cannot vote out the people in charge in Brussels. As an organisation it is insidious, corrupt, wholly undemocratic and many people have had enough of it.

Can you seriously imagine the US giving away that much power to, say, Canada, and taking directives on who they can trade with and how to run their country? It's unthinkable.

By the way, this is not the start of a violent debate. I have no interest in discussing the merits (or otherwise) of the EU on a music fan site. People have different views, and this is mine. Feel free to tear lumps out of each other if you must, but I won't reply.

Oh, and since we're in the business of smearing entire nations with ugly generalisations, I don't think we should be taking lessons on racism from the country that had segregation until 1964.
No, it was a misguided belief that it would stop third world migration; particularly Islamic migration.

The whole E.U. as master resentment was what the nationalist ideologues were interested in. The immigrant issue is what the marketers for the ideologues pushed to the average peasant.

It was a propaganda campaign for the casual fans of bigotry, and xenophobia. It's been mastered in the U.S. since the emergence of the Civil Rights movement, and now it's being marketed around the world.

There were no other issues related to the E.U. that the average Brexit voter had a sure grasp on, or were even aware of.

You're about to learn a harsh lesson as to why the E.U. was devised in the first place, and it goes far beyond trade issues. It was meant as a buffer to constant war, and the extreme nationalism that has led to war in Europe throughout its history.

The further people become removed from the source of a development, the less they understand why it was necessary in the first place. Fascism is cyclical, and it always starts modestly.

History repeats, and only technology makes it seem like time is moving forward. You can only hope that the inevitable failures usher in a swift correction.

Other than that, I'll enjoy the bonfire.

You are the brainwashed ones. Do you know when I notice someone has been brainwashed? When they run towards a precipice with the pockets full of illusory money and a smile on their faces.

YES I SEE YOU HAVE MUCH UNDERSTANDING OF NONSENSE LOL:crazy:

You been smoking vast quantities of weed. Yes?
Constant war? Are you insane in the membrane, LOL, against who? Germany has no army and would never harm an enemy. FFS. The French would drop and run automatically. Spain couldnt locate the bullets. None of them would allow a war that had "guns" FFS guns are evil and kill.
They are all wusses and would surrender immediately should they notice a commotion.:lbf:

Now he's complaining about his taxes. I'm sure the average person can fully relate to his pop star tax woes. I suspect he's been in trouble with the taxman at times.

What a sad old fart. He becomes more and more whiny, and unlikable with every interview.

, '' we are all being tracked and labelled, taxed and prosecuted we are all subject to laws no-one has agreed with us'

Microchipping of humans is already a reality in America and Australia.
A cashless society whose every transaction can be mónitored.
Mobile phone addicts whose location can be traced at any time.
Public surveillance on every street and in public.buildings.

Dystopian society.
Morrissey is awake and you're the sad old fart.

While I’ve not lived in Poland, I have lived in a number of countries that once were under the “iron curtain” and in them I noticed two distinct tendencies in the way these once oppressed but now re-emerging from the shadows Christian communities behave:
1. A need to shove their faith down other people’s throats, one can only assume cuz they had to keep it hidden so long.
2. The other is far more sinister, many people that had parents or had actually been political commissars, police informants, party propagandists and the like went right into positions within the Church, often without even breathing hard it seemed. So yeah, I’d say a major component in Eastern Europe with religion is population control, especially curtailing freedom of movement, enforcing draconian morality and just a general reduction in women’s rights...

i know a bit of polish history, and their particular situation is a bit different. so during cold war unlike in ussr there was no official atheist policies, bc it was too catholic really, even their communist party functionaries went to church; on the other hand the church sort of was a safeish space for dissenting voices, e.g. it supported solidarność and such (there was even a priest assassinated by the state for that stuff), so it kinda accumulated this pro-freedom cred and after 1990 grabbed more and more political power. actual religiosity of the polish people, as far as i understand it, hasnt changed much, but the church certainly shoves its shit f***ing everywhere now, more than before.

on the other hand russians havent been really religious en masse for better part of 20th century and are not really now. church attendance is 5% or something like that. you know, killing shit ton of priests and persecuting church goers and clergy worked well. but during ww2 party's policies changed somewhat in favour of the church a bit, in exchange for, well, services; clergymen (especially higher ranking ones) became really cozy with kgb and the party, and after the dissolution of the ussr their involvement with whoever was in power became more overt, and now russian orthodox church has shit ton of money and shoves its shit everywhere possible. the reason some people make the mistake of thinking that russians are religious is bc russia really had that reactionary turn, like much of eastern europe, sadly (but more hardcore, bc it's russia). it is expected though - shove down people's throats socialist rhetoric without any meaningful adherence to all that liberté égalité, and no wonder that the right wing seemed a better deal.

also a curious thing: apparently eastern part of germany, the former gdr, has more fashy people than the rest of the country, and again, i'm not surprised - gdr did jack shit as far as denazification goes. and like how eastern europe in general for a while had that little neo-nazi problem...

Speaking of Poland their fireman crew just arrived in Sveg in Sweden to help with the wildfires and the streets were lined with swedes applauding them. These firemen have made very nationalistis statements and say they are here to help the swedes with very nationalistic undertones between the lines.

A convoy of 40 fire trucks arrived in Sveg just minutes ago.
