Morrissey: Un dandy de camisa abierta - interview in Clarín.com

Morrissey: Un dandy de camisa abierta - Clarín.com (Argentina)

Translation to English:

You usually compose with others (just as you did during The Smith): how do these creative couples work?

-I do not consider myself a "musician" in a strict sense, so I like the idea of adding to the music with which my collaborator has been working. The vocal melody usually changes the musical direction of the song, that's true. But it's fine and I also know my place in the collaboration.

-If there are cases in which you only write the lyrics, is it the one that comes first or only arises after the melody?

-The lyrics are always in advance, but the "patch" to the music. It is a craft and at the same time requires effort. It's not easy, but I enjoy it. Because, as I once said, the lyrics should be written as if everyone was listening to you ... although that probably does not happen! Most modern composers joke about how well they spend writing the lyrics but do not make any intellectual effort thinking about the audience, the listeners.

- Of all the producers and collaborators with whom he worked (Stephen Street, Mark Nevin, Alain Whyte, Boz Boorer, Jesse Tobias), which one did you feel most comfortable with?

-It is an unfair question because each of them has their good things and their individual methods.

-It's his autobiography you mention how insistently Bowie was looking for him to do something together. What are your favorite records of {el?

-I would say that The Man Who Sold The World, Diamond Dogs and of course The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. I think, by then, no one else could have got away with it as he did. And none more was close to what he achieved! I like artists who have an audacious awareness of everything they do. Today with most modern groups, it does not even matter if they are good or not: they usually jump to the nro. 1 of the charts and ready.

-I would like to ask you about your musical tastes. For example The Kinks in whom I see a kind of elegance and sophistication avant la lettre for The Smiths.

-The Kinks in the 60s were a perfect triumph ... absolutely original ... a wit and occurrence that no other group even tried and definitely memorable. I loved each of his singles but his success was so instantly accepted that no one took the trouble to analyze them. If someone wrote a song like Waterloo sunset today they would give him 42 Grammy awards.

-Nuevamente in his biography, you have writes very unique analogies, as when he says "The Stooges, Lou Reed and Patti Smith are our new Goethe, Gide and Gertrude Stein." I wonder then what essay writing interests you.

-The classics, obviously ... and with classics I mean what almost everyone agrees. As for example, in the 60s, the classic period of pop were The Beatles, Stones, The Who, The Supremes, The Four Tops, Bacharach-David, Phil Spector ... and so on. And with respect to modern speakers, I love listening to Germaine Greer, Anne Marie Waters and reading Christopher Hitchens. They always give me the answers I hope to find.

-Is it your idea that your memoirs be published in the "Penguin Classics" collection, a collection that Penguin only reserves for the canon of deceased writers?

-DO NOT! Of course not! Someone in the press invented that story to make me look like an insufferable person. But I'm used to it ...

-Finally I would like to ask you about the biopic about your life, England is mine.

-I never saw her and I was never consulted by her. They did not approach me or my family, so I have a hard time understanding how the filmmakers could understand what they were doing. Whereupon I ask myself: is it really about me?

Well indeed. He won't change. Wherever people know about his despicable racist views, his career has gone down the shitter. All that's left is to take money from people who don't know in places halfway round the world.

He's a despicable bigot and racist, and he deserves all the opprobrium. All of it.
Does your PC view of the world ever bore you? You sometimes sound like a jilted girlfriend who keeps phoning the ex's parents to complain about their son. I don't like having a go at you but I reckon you might actually be a malfunctioning chat bot let loose in an ever decreasing circle of self inflicted hate.

Actually I'm not 'taken in' by either of them. I agree that both Tommy Robinson and Anne Marie Waters are funded by Jewish interests who want to demonise Islam to strengthen the cause of Israel.

But it's still hard not to admire their balls. Especially Robinson. History is full of stubborn people who personally suffer for their beliefs, and it's quite heroic.

If you're starting a movement you need funding. And it's a case of: am I with the Muslims or the Jews? Am I with Pakistani immigrants whose practices I abhor, or am I with the group that stealthily runs everything anyway? And what shadowy groups/think tanks/'institutes' have all the money to throw at such causes? The Zionists every time.

Me personally, I would never vote for anyone. But at the same time I don't go around calling people names for their beliefs like the media and so many of it's followers do.

As for Greer, she's a second-wave feminist from the 60s, the kind that Moz has always admired, so there's really no surprise there. He was name checking her in 1984.

Yes but Tommeh isn't starting a movement, he's basically just out for himself. That is obvious.

It's hard to respect Tommeh as he's too stupid It's not balls it's stupidity.
I mean come on he tried to sneak into USA with a fake passport, you can call that balls but it's plain and simple stupidity
Trying to sneak into the USA of all places with a fake passport in 2012 or whenever it was is high stupidity.
Especially when it's clear he's desperate to move to USA. With a bit of brains he could have got in but no he f***ed it
All this English talk he just wants to be in the USA.
Tommeh is just following the American model street racist to political party. It's tired and tested in USA.

As for GG yes she's second wave and yes like all forward thinkers he was into her in the 70s 80s but that was a long time ago, she's crazy now, nothing like she was then, so it is a bit of a suprise as one would hope he would move with the times a bit. He hasn't 'Always admired' her anyway. He used to think she was potty. Though he never said it in public .

You are funny, in the one breath you champion people who stand by their beliefs even if it means suffering, you call them heroic. In another you say you would like to be with the zionits because they 'run everything anyway' and have money.

You ideals you say admire are not the ones you live by.
Also just cause you dislike one group, doesn't mean you have to join another that is opposed it. Thats the mindset of a child.
There are other ways to live.

I think you are a romantic Reel but you most definitely are taken in by Tommeh. Who is quite obviously out for himself not a great cause.

I will never ever stop calling out racists. Ever.

Her anti-Islamic statements seem to be the crux of why people are against her.

As an atheist, I am against all non-secular attempts to create law. The fact that there are people in England who believe Sharia Law should be in place would bother me greatly if I lived there. I am also quite bothered by Christians in the US who use the bible as a source for what the laws should be.

I do know that an EU court said calling Mohammed a pedophile is not within freedom of speech. I find that to be a horrible ruling. This statement is based on the Quran which says he married a 6 year old and had sex with her when she was 9. I think that fits the generally accepted definition of a pedophile. I think the EU has a very large misunderstanding of what freedom of speech is or is being overly politically correct in protecting Islam. Perhaps they are protecting it to prevent violence between Muslim and anti-Muslim factions of society. Perhaps some other reason exists that I don't understand.

Ultimately I think to say Morrissey is a horrible person because he supports Anne Marie Waters is an argument that needs to be more substantiated than "She is an Islamophobe!"

I'm looking to better understand specific things she has said or done that make her such an evil entity to support.
It's her, the people she associates with, their views, and their actions. Have a read.

Very reliable source, lol.
If Moz is racist than the pope is female.
Words spoken in 1992 are still true today.
Please wake up.

I will never ever stop calling out racists. Ever.

And we will never stop calling our your disgusting racism. Ever.
If you're not expressing your appalling racism by criticising Morrissey's non-white band, you're suggesting people in other parts of the world are not able to keep up with the news on the internet presumably because they're so backward. Utterly sickening, shameful racism.

I'm OK with Germaine Greer, I can pass Christopher Hitchens, but to listen to Anne Marie Waters to find answers? Oh boy, oh boy!!!! Better find the answers by yourself and not just from a far-right-squared-minded person living in the past. Are you still living in the past of a glorified British Empire? Move on Morrissey!

I will never ever stop calling out racists. Ever.

I'd concentrate on butchering Jam classics and pretending to look clever by doing crosswords.
At least you get some traction on here unlike the Twitter tumbleweed.

I will never ever stop calling out racists. Ever.

O brother, you are Surface's hero I bet he swooned when he read this proclamation.
the nutter 'fights racism' whereever he finds it in the unemployment line.:lbf:

but to listen to Anne Marie Waters to find answers? Oh boy, oh boy!!!! Better find the answers by yourself and not just from a far-right-squared-minded person

I am fasting from politics and I wonder if it will affect my eyelids. As for the jew Einstein hating nationalism makes sense cause all jews hate other peoples nationalism but their own.
There have never been a group of people in history with such awful double standards as them. A minority of them are speaking for the majority who no longer agree with their leaders.
When will Einsteins wife be given the credit she deserves even in death for being the brainy one?
Her husband was only able to stick his tongue out and he did so to mock the world and admit it was never he who was behind all the theories and ideas.
Never ever get yourself a hero or idol.

I will never ever stop calling out racists. Ever.
That's fair enough, same as some people will never stop calling out rape gangs and terrorists who blow up children in the name of religion. But that's not your priority, I suppose??

When I said I stood by the zionists I was putting myself in the mindset of someone wanting to start a movement. I personally do not stand by the zionists as I view them as very destructive and hypocritical i.e closed borders for Israel to 'protect their culture' but accusations of racism for anyone else that wants to protect theirs (yet they secretly fund so-called right-wing movements to stir things up against Muslims). Also I don't like the way they constantly cite the Holocaust as some kind of mitigation against their behaviour. It's the equivalent of a black man raping and murdering a white woman then saying in his defence: But my ancestors were enslaved.

I don't agree with you about Tommy being out for himself. He comes from Luton, therefore has seen the most aggressive aspects of Islam on his doorstep. He's watched it grow and take over his town. He's had female family members brainwashed and now wearing hijabs. He's been jailed by the establishment, had a paid Somalian Muslim attempt to murder him in prison (but luckily TR beat the crap out of him) and been violently assaulted on the streets of his own country by immigrants who have never been arrested let alone charged (TR was for beating the Somalian who tried to kill him). His wife and children have been threatened with acid.

Does that sound like he's out for himself and faking belief in his cause?

I think he's a passionate and stubborn Englishman, the kind that in the past was exploited to fight rich men's wars in the days they assured us that nationalism and British pride was a good thing.

Oy Vey!

Porn is a jewish invention to undermine western civilisation and all morals and values. The above picture from that website is no coincidence nor is it fake. It is their way of celebrating Chanukkah while at the same time admitting and showing their power.
Porn is jewish!

You didn't translate the title. "An open shirted dandy" is pretty funny. He seems to be showing more skin of late. Not sure why. A bit a tease if fine but let's avoid self parody a la "Get Off the Stage" please.
