new b-sides

Do any of you feel cheated when Morrissey uses a b-side opportunity
for a cover? Like "No One Can Hold A Candle To You" or "Redondo Beach"
and now on this next single "Human Being"
I'll admit - I liked "East West" and "That's Entertainment" - but still, when listening - I could never be 100% about the songs - because it wasn't Morrissey's own.

For me - I am much more interested in his own lyrics and melodies.

I was really hoping "Home Is A Question Mark" would have shown up as a b-side -
guess it's canned in the vault.

Needless to say - I will still listen to and enjoy 99% of what he does..

Morrissey has a tradition of hiding great songs on b-sides - Jack The Ripper, Lost, The Edges..., I Can Have Both, Lost, Hairdresser, Sister I'm A Poet, Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice, My Life Is A Succession...it's not going to change now. Home Is A Question Mark is one that has indeed been locked away, although some lyrics have leaked out. B-sides are a pleasure with Morrissey.

I know what you're saying, but I usually don't mind, so long as it's a well-done cover. Morrissey's version of Candle really deserved to be a track on YATQ.

It'll be interesting to hear Moz's "Human Being". Hopefully it will be the last of the cover b-sides for ROTT.

"Home is a question mark?" could still be released on another single, you never know.

> What lyrics leaked out for that one? Anyone know the source?

Well, it's an odd tale - someone "in the know" posted some lyrics here before Quarry was released, and all have turned out to be right - there was some from "How Can Anybody Possibly Know..." and some from "My Life Is A Succession..", both word perfect. Then there was this...

"I do not flinch if the doorbell rings
I sit and I yawn
With my curtains drawn
Saintly patience tips so easy to sin
The prolonged pregnant pause
Will the last laugh be yours?"

Which has not yet appeared - my guess/assumption is that they can only be from Home Is A Question Mark, the only recorded song from that session not to see the light of day, but as was said above - it might yet be released - I thought I heard someone say that it was due to be on the US/Canada only release of I Like You, but of course that never happened.

Sithee,

What interesting lyrics - I sure hope this song sees the light of day.
Maybe the next single?
