I guess it must be real??? They've put the picture on Central. In the middle of the night?

Racism is and always will be prevalent in politics. Without it, we wouldn't have this Beatles's satirical classic:

"McCartney improvised various temporary lyrics leading to what has become known in Beatles' folklore as the "No Pakistanis" version. This version parodied the anti-immigrant views of Enoch Powell, a member of parliament whose racially charged speeches had recently gained much media attention. The lyrics addressed attitudes toward immigrants in the United States and the United Kingdom: "... don't need no Puerto Ricans living in the USA"; and "don't dig no Pakistanis taking all the people's jobs", though these lyrics were meant to be a parody and a criticism of those prejudiced against immigrants.[8] Later during the same session, the subject of immigration came up again in an improvised jam that has become known as "Commonwealth". The lyrics included a line "You'd better get back to your Commonwealth homes".[9]"

These days they'd have a me-type peering in anguish through the studio door wailing 'please, don't joke about these things, they'll say it harms whole communities & is a sign of your white male privilege.'

The idea of ‘white male privilege’ is just the latest in a whole range of conceits intended to make workers feel blessed, and self-doubting, in their positions of servitude.

As a start, the Labour Party would do well to make sure the phrase is no longer uttered by its representatives. It might be good music in London, but it doesn’t play well in Tameside.

I agree! It's also lazy - it's designed to shut down a debate so they don't have to do something hard, like thinking. If people refuse to be shut down (which is increasingly happening), then they've got nothing. So not only does everyone hate us for shutting down debates, they despise us for not being able to win a debate when cornered.

It's real the Emperor has no clothes stuff.

Not that additional proof is needed but ticket sales (or lack thereof) prove
Morrissey is in decline.

Tickets are still on sale an hour and a half after going live. Like his last, aborted UK 'tour', it seems 'fans' are less interested. Remember when it would take just a few minutes!?

Let's see how this plays out ....

If you have a ticket, or intend buying one,
you'll no doubt enjoy his new right-wing fan base as they roar to the opening of Racist c***, English Heart.
Multi cultural Leeds should f*** him and his racist badge right off. Disgusting ignoramus.

You obviously didn't notice that multi cultures don't always get on with each other & Labour was struggling with both Hindus, Sikhs, secularists, LGBT people not on the hard left etc over the perception that as party we favoured hardline conservative Islamist sects.

Tbf, you probably don't have the slightest interest in anyone from a minority group.

The cruel irony is that the Labour manifesto, itself, was really interesting and genuinely attractive on both personal and ideological levels. The debate around cost obscured the fact that the state would purchase assets.

Interesting point, however from the outside, and as a tory voter, their manifesto appeared to be a case of trying to be all things to all men, and came across as a desperate attempt by Corbyn to do just about anything, including free broadband, & almost free fish and chips and pizza on a Friday for everyone, in order to get the keys to No.10.
Pillock politics really, as echoed by the trouncing they rightly received.

It was all over the place. And they were springing things on us at the last minute, which didn't matter much for me, but was panicking higher ups.

Milne is awful. Not only a nasty bigot, but completely incompetent. He should bugger off back to The Guardian & slag off UK foreign policy for the rest of his life.

Last minute panic, say anything, absolutely anything to get the keys to No.10...even a child could have sensed their desperation.
Sad, pathetic & embarrassing really, but hey, all water under the bridge.

As a union member, I get a vote in the leadership election. My heart says Long-Bailey but my head says Starmer. Am I wrongly overlooking anyone?

I like LB, but Milne's round her like a vampire bat. Nandy's great & it would stop the Tories laughing at us when yet again we vote for a man. But, I think Keir is probably the safest bet.

Long Bailey is just Corbyn with mammary glands and Sir Starmer thinks the working class are like toddlers in a high chair who need a North London middle class socialist to help them tie their shoe laces, blow their nose and wipe their arse.

That’s my own anxiety about Starmer. And it’s exactly why liberals/woke would vote for him: they love ideas of charity as it depends on ideas of disempowerment.

Yeah, but we just need to keep alive. We're unlikely to win the next time, we just need someone who won't kill us off.

That’s the most depressing thing I’ve read since seeing the price sticker, on my copy of It’s Over, earlier this afternoon.

On a Moz related tangent, Scotland is currently having a row over teaching in Gaelic in Western Isles Primary Schools.

The SNP & 'the left' are arguing that it preserves an historical language & culture.

The Tories are arguing that it disadvantages kids not to have English as their first language. Also they know it's a Nationalist power move.

The majority of people who live in The Western Isles these days are English speakers because of migration within the UK, most immigrants from outside the UK speak English as a second language & wouldn't benefit from knowing yet another largely unspoken language & it would mean that non-Gaelic speaking primary school teachers couldn't get a job in the Western Isles.

Interesting to know if there's any bit of England not on the Celtic fringe that could get a cultural preservation order.

In a way it was easier for me because Scottish Labour was wiped out in 2015. I'd done all my mourning. Also we hadn't become embroiled in any horrific race rows, so we didn't have to feel ashamed, just defeated.

I'm ever the optimist though.

If we don't die, we (mostly!) will be tougher, smarter & wiser.
