All this work and my phone's camera doesn't recognize it as a face.

you need to work on your drawing skills. there is way too much face on the left side (you could easily shave off an inch all the way down) and not enough on the right side.

I know, but I like this piece anyway.

it has its good points. i think you'd like it better though if you took more time to get the drawing right. flaws and distortions can be stylistic, but these (especially the glasses) are just sloppy

I can imagine that these images would look great as illustrations of short stories, e.g. in a literary magazine.

It looks fantastic on my wall. It wouldn't be as captivating if it were symmetrical.

The only discomfort I have about it is the background could be greener. I might wrestle with the frame and adjust the color.
