Pick your favourite track from each of Morrissey's 9 studio albums

Irregular Regular

Forget my fate.
I know this is quite difficult and the choices we make will likely be affected by the mood we are in at the time of selection, however this is what I would go with:

Late Night, Maudlin Street
Driving Your Girlfriend Home
We'll Let You Know
Speedway
The Operation
Trouble Loves Me
You Know I Couldn't Last
Dear God Please Help Me
Something Is Squeezing My Skull

Wow, I'm amazed two of the four or so votes have been for "The Operation." Not bad, but so many other good ones.

Really? Better than The Boy Racer? Dagenham Dave? Best Friend on the Payroll? Reader Meet Author?

Great picks from most of you and a great topic!

My picks:
Viva Hate: Everyday is Like Sunday
Kill Uncle: Driving your girlfriend home
Your Arsenal: Seasick, yet still docked (or We'll let you know...)
Vauxhall & I: Now my heart is full
Southpaw Grammar: Best friend on the payroll
Maladjusted: Trouble loves me (or Maladjusted)
You are the Quarry: Come back to Camden
Ringleader of the Tormentors: Life is a pigsty
Years of Refusal: You were good in your time

I listened to 'Kill Uncle' a couple of nights ago for the first time in years. It's not as bad as one remembers, as long as one doesn't go into it expecting a life-changing, contentment-wrecking feast of interpersonal anguish and revelatory solopsism.

Or something.

Anyway, I was just going to say 'Mute Witness' is splendid, as is 'Driving Your WAG home' - but what about 'Asian Rut?' It's rather strangely appealing.

Asian Rut is wonderful. I've always felt that.

At Last I Am Born

Wow, odd choice. I think that song isn't bad, but I think most other people generally dislike it. Better than Pigsty? You Have Killed Me? The Youngest Was the Most Loved? Far-Off Places?

Since she picked it I am sure she finds it better than the rest.

Really? As you can see, I don't pay much attention to what other people think.

I LOVE the song. It's just such an odd sentiment for Morrissey. Self-deprecating and apparently CONTENT, as if for a while he moved beyond himself. It does confuse me because I don't know (because he never tells us anything) what was different in his life when he wrote that song, but it serves to intrigue me further. I have this hopeless hope that if I keep listening to it I'll get more insight. And I like the strident music. I do like the other tracks, especially Far-Off Places and Pigsty, but Born keeps dragging me back.

Hang on, I'll pick another ''your favourite track'' from Southpaw Grammar....

I like it too. It's weird. It sounds like the Beatles, only weird. That's a good thing.

Break Up The Family
Mute Witness (or Tony The Pony if we're allowed to pick from the US edition)
The National Front Disco
Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself
Do Your Best & Don't Worry
Ammunition
How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel
To Me You Are A Work Of Art
One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell.

While I'm here, I'm gonna do least favourite too:

Margaret On A Guillotine
Harsh Truth Of The Camera Eye
You're The One For Me Fatty (which I like, but if I have to pick one)
Used To Be A Sweet Boy
Dagenham Dave
Ambitious Outsiders
America Is Not The World
Dear God Please Help Me
Mama Lay Me Softly On The Riverbed

I like Fatty, America & Mama quite alot from that list hence 'least favourite' as opposed to worst.
