If Morrissey were to do a covers album, what 12 songs would you like him to record?

Damn, that's a great question...does it have to be songs he's played live but never recorded, or just any songs at all?

Velvet Underground: I'll Be Your Mirror
Bowie: Conversation Piece
The Jam: The Butterfly Collector
Buddy Holly: Changing All These Changes
Kinks: Waterloo Sunset
Luke Haines: Never Work
Gene: Child's Body
Sebadoh: Willing To Wait
Elvis: I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone

...I have to go out to dinner, she's bitching at me to hurry up. Women!

I'll think of the rest while I'm out.

In no particular order:

1. "You Say You Don't Love Me" - Buzzcocks
*Morrissey's live cover - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDWR3VyzLPs

2. "Nothing Rhymed" - Gilbert O'Sullivan

10. "I Want A Boy For My Birthday" - The Cookies
* Morrissey & Marr rehearsal clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S1EI7qoEFE (Only want the cover if it is just Morrissey and a guitar that sounds like that)

11. "How The Web Was Woven" - Elvis Presley

12. I apologize, but I want to hear Morrissey cover this song. :blushing:

Re: I Think It's Time....

Holy crap! I thought you were dead. Or worse.
Welcome back though.

A double LP of Frankie Valli covers might be interesting.

Re: I Think It's Time....

Not dead. Worse. :)

I would like him to cover Kitchen Sink Drama by Soft Cell.

Any other suggestions?

Re: I Think It's Time....

The Art of Falling Apart - Soft Cell.

In fact he could do a whole album of Soft Cell songs. Oh yes.

Re: I Think It's Time....

orange juice - rip it up

nico - i'll keep it with mine

johnny marr - the trap

Re: I Think It's Time....

My favourite Soft Cell song is Say Hello, Wave Goodbye. A bit of an obvious choice but I think Morrissey would do a good job of this.

Re: I Think It's Time....

Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode

Re: I Think It's Time....

Kathy's Song by Simon & Garfunkel

Re: I Think It's Time....

Kathy's Song by Simon & Garfunkel

Nice choice.

I'd love to hear him sing 'I Get Along Without You Very Well'. There's so many great versions of that song but I love the Billie Holiday version from 'Lady in Satin' when her voice is really fragile. It's heartbreaking. In fact, it doesn't seem like a performance, at all; it's as if she really is trying to convince herself that she's okay, that everything's fine, and she knows it isn't and never will be.

Re: I Think It's Time....

Not to be like Kewpie or anything but a thread on this exact subject was JUST done less than two months ago. But I guess scanning through two pages of existing topics is a lot of work.

Holocaust by This Mortal Coil.

In case you are not familiar...

Well then he wouldn't be covering This Mortal Coil, he'd be covering Big Star.
