Bullfighting is torture porn!

Can't wait to hear the studio version of this.

The thing that I like the most is that the majority of you are all defending Morrissey and not necessarily the tracks. And you all have valid defenses. What's the point in the rest of you voicing such vulgar opinions? Don't buy the album if you're really THAT disappointed. Because quite frankly, this is Morrissey we're talking about and I don't think he will care in the slightest for your criticism, he does as he pleases and that's one of the main things I believe many people fell in love with him for. Yet now you shun him for it? People reject anything slightly different or varying, even in this segment of society where we have found refuge in this man purely for the fact that we ourselves aren't the same as everybody else. Other recent material includes People Are The Same Everywhere, right? Which is a decent all-round song. Stop projecting your useless rubbish and give the man some praise. For the other songs he sang, for how well he looks after being SO ill. Just give the studio recording a chance before you regret the things you're saying.

I LOL'd.

Only Blue Rose Society knows the true inspiration for this song, and I'm too kind to share it with you lot.

The Blue Rose Society are full of bullshit:

"The above photo has been doing the rounds on the internet with claims it is Alvaro Munera Builes, a Colombian animal rights activist who in his youth fought as a novillero, a 'novice bullfighter', under the name 'El Pilarico' in Colombia and then Spain. In fact, not only is this not true, it could not be true. Munera did not leave bullfighting because of some conversion in the bullring; quite the reverse. It was the bull that made him leave.

In 1984 a bull called 'Terciopelo', from the breed of Marques de Villagodio, caught him in the foot and tossed him across the ring, fracturing the fifth cervical vertebrae in his neck - along with other injuries - which rendered him permanently paraplegic.

It was only later after he had been transferred from hospital in Spain to a recuperative facility in Miami to be closer to his relatives in Colombia that he developed a 'moral' problem with bullfighting. According to his own account, it was the doctors, nurses, other patients and their families treating him with contempt because of his bullfighting past which caused the change. In his own words, he converted to their point of view because "there are more of them, they must be right."

Morrissey's 'fans' are almost as simplistic as he is.

Yes, it's a relief to know that nobody need ever bother with Lorca again now that Moz has 'summarised' the entire issue in a pop song:

[h=1]Llanto por la muerte de Ignacio Sánchez Mejías By Federico Garcia Lorca[/h]
http://vimeo.com/68960157

Hopefully, he won't be so shameless as to actually use Lorca's image.

Morrissey = die-hard try-harder

"A person who puts a large amount of effort into achieving a certain image, or counter-image, to the point where it is obviously contrived. Rather than achieving an image through genuine personality, the try-hard consciously attempts to fit a certain style through deliberate imitation, forced style, or scripted behavior. That is to say, he/she is trying hard to create an image."

Wouldn't he use Mejías' image (the bullfighter) rather than Lorca's (the poet)? Well, let's hope he doesn't use either.

That video is trippy. The image of Lorca's big head reminds me of the Wizard from The Wizard of Oz. The poem sounds nice to the hears even though I have no clue what he is saying.

I thought you had to have basic Spanish to function in Colorado? Isn't it bi-lingual? The poem is trippy in English as well. It would be fun to remix "The Bullfighter Dies" with this is there's an acoustic version without the dreadful nursery rhyme sing-song stuff. "ga-ga in Malaga". FFS!

I'm trying again. My anonymous response was censored by moderators, and I therefore created an account, but my post still didn't get published. So here it is again. HAIL FREE SPEECH.

"News from Blue Rose Society: The inspiration behind Kick The Bride Down The Aisle is this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKhNcDFs31k"

Funny song, but you're wrong. It's a Tarantino spag-bol western mash up of Kill Bill/Uma as "Feminist Avenging Bride"

You obviously carefully read the link I gave you. Are you surprised that the song is called "The Bullfighter DIES"?

I don't know about Colorado. I am in Arizona, at the moment. :p But I grew up in Ohio. Learning Spanish wasn't deemed a necessity there--back then. I sure wish I was bi-lingual though. It is actually a requirement to work in Miami. Here, not so much.

Yes, that would be a cool remix.

Found the English translation. Listen to it read in English.

Lament For Ignacio Sanchez Mejias

1. Cogida and death

At five in the afternoon.
It was exactly five in the afternoon.
A boy brought the white sheet
at five in the afternoon.
A trail of lime ready prepared
at five in the afternoon.
The rest was death, and death alone.

The wind carried away the cottonwool
at five in the afternoon.
And the oxide scattered crystal and nickel
at five in the afternoon.
Now the dove and the leopard wrestle
at five in the afternoon.
And a thigh with a desolated horn
at five in the afternoon.
The bass-string struck up
at five in the afternoon.
Arsenic bells and smoke
at five in the afternoon.
Groups of silence in the corners
at five in the afternoon.
And the bull alone with a high heart!
At five in the afternoon.
When the sweat of snow was coming
at five in the afternoon,
when the bull ring was covered with iodine
at five in the afternoon.
Death laid eggs in the wound
at five in the afternoon.
At five in the afternoon.
At five o'clock in the afternoon.

A coffin on wheels is his bed
at five in the afternoon.
Bones and flutes resound in his ears
at five in the afternoon.
Now the bull was bellowing through his forehead
at five in the afternoon.
The room was iridescent with agony
at five in the afternoon.
In the distance the gangrene now comes
at five in the afternoon.
Horn of the lily through green groins
at five in the afternoon.
The wounds were burning like suns
at five in the afternoon.
At five in the afternoon.
Ah, that fatal five in the afternoon!
It was five by all the clocks!
It was five in the shade of the afternoon!

2. The Spilled Blood

I will not see it!

Tell the moon to come,
for I do not want to see the blood
of Ignacio on the sand.

I will not see it!

The moon wide open.
Horse of still clouds,
and the grey bull ring of dreams
with willows in the barreras.

I will not see it!

Let my memory kindle!
Warm the jasmines
of such minute whiteness!

I will not see it!

The cow of the ancient world
passed her sad tongue
over a snout of blood
spilled on the sand,
and the bulls of Guisando,
partly death and partly stone,
bellowed like two centuries
sated with threading the earth.
No.
I will not see it!

Ignacio goes up the tiers
with all his death on his shoulders.
He sought for the dawn
but the dawn was no more.
He seeks for his confident profile
and the dream bewilders him
He sought for his beautiful body
and encountered his opened blood
Do not ask me to see it!
I do not want to hear it spurt
each time with less strength:
the spurt that illuminates
the tiers of seats, and spills
over the corduroy and the leather
of a thirsty multitude.
Who shouts that I should come near!
Do not ask me to see it!

His eyes did not close
when he saw the horns near,
but the terrible mothers
lifted their heads.
And across the ranches,
an air of secret voices rose,
shouting to celestial bulls,
herdsmen of pale mist.
There was no prince in Sevilla
who could compare to him,
nor sword like his sword
nor heart so true.
Like a river of lions
was his marvellous strength,
and like a marble torso
his firm drawn moderation.
The air of Andalusian Rome
gilded his head
where his smile was a spiked
of wit and intelligence.
What a great torero in the ring!
What a good peasant in the sierra!
How gentle with the sheaves!
How hard with the spurs!
How tender with the dew!
How dazzling the fiesta!
How tremendous with the final
banderillas of darkness!

But now he sleeps without end.
Now the moss and the grass
open with sure fingers
the flower of his skull.
And now his blood comes out singing;
singing along marshes and meadows,
slides on frozen horns,
faltering souls in the mist
stumbling over a thousand hoofs
like a long, dark, sad tongue,
to form a pool of agony
close to the starry Guadalquivir.
Oh, white wall of Spain!
Oh, black bull of sorrow!
Oh, hard blood of Ignacio!
Oh, nightingale of his veins!
No.
I will not see it!
No chalice can contain it,
no swallows can drink it,
no frost of light can cool it,
nor song nor deluge of white Lillie's,
no glass can cover it with silver.
No.
I will not see it!

I've been here for three years and speak hardly any Spanish.

SEE : THIS . ONLY BLUE ROSE PEOPLE KNOW THE STORY BEHIND IT . You are such a twat.Seriously. I am not a member of the blue rose society but I am vegan and I pay attention to the world around me without needing Morrissey to tell me what to think and anyone could have thought of that right away if they noticed this story before hearing of this song GET OVER IT . You people really are very pathetic and you are just as bad as the people you do not like. You are not the only fans that exist and you are not the only people on the planet. You are very rude and you don't need to be condescending to other fans in this way by saying ONLY BLUE ROSE SOCIETY know. Really, get over yourself. Your attitude sucks.
