tell us about the last Film you saw

Re: tell us about the last Film you saw.

The other night I watched The Entrepreneur on hulu.com.

It's a documentary about a guy Malcolm Bricklin trying to build a car or import a car. He brought the Subaru to the US in 1968. He then tried to build his own car, the Bricklin SV-1 but went bankrupt and the car is considered poorly designed although the ideas were really interesting for 1974.

He later brought the Yugo to the US and made a ton of money even though the car was a piece of shit.

He went bankrupt a few times and looking to once again make a splash in the automotive world he had his son film him going around the world trying to make something happen.

He is incredibly persistent and is a really interesting person. If you like documentaries this is worth the watch. You do not have to be a car enthusiast or know anything about cars to enjoy this. First 10 minutes are a bit slow.

I think it expires from hulu in a few days.

Re: tell us about the last Film you saw.

soylent green. this movie could probably use some modern treatment. either that or a similar tale of social maniplation. i cant believe how spot on it was about some things despite its 35 some odd years.

Finally saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last night.
It was good, but not three hours long good.

Re: tell us about the last Film you saw.

I saw The Wrestler tonight, I thought it was very good but I was also quite tired so wasn't paying full attention.
But, it seemed like a real life film, it did not try to gloss over things and make it all happy and dancing, it was rough, gritty and real, just how I like my films.

Love PTxx.

Re: tell us about the last Film you saw.

I haven't seen anything at the movies since The Boat That Rocked. Or was it Zac and Miri Make a Porno? I'm slack, at any rate. And the arty local theatre is showing good films from East Germany and everything...

So I finally got to see Lars Von Trier's Antichrist at the cinema last night. The cinema had a bit of an Antichrist theme going on with signs and decorations, so that was pretty cool. The film was brilliant but controversial and quite unpleasant to watch - just as you would expect from Lars Von Trier. But as for the unpleasantness he took it to a whole new level and I am surprised noone walked out. After having mastered the musical and the comedy this is his take on the horror genre. The film explores the impact of fear itself and, knowing that Lars Von Trier has suffered from severe anxiety for many years, I believe this could be an exploration of his own fears and, possibly, a deeply rooted fear of women. In most of his previous films (Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville, Manderlay) the women had to be subdued and humiliated but, without revealing too much, this is not the case in Antichrist.
When I left the cinema I felt deeply disturbed and slightly disoriented. It was great! I highly recommend it, unless you are very easily offended.

Von Trier's Dancer In The Dark was a good one, but I couldn't stop crying at the end where Bjork dies. Breaking The Waves was also another good one, too. Emily Watson stole the show on that one.
