We've had this type of thing before, of course, but this time it's by a Manchester Quartet playing songs from a Manchester album.

It's because a string quartet normally consist of two violins, one viola and one chello, so not much bottom end unfortunately, as I agree with you. The chello would be doing Andy's part, the viola and the second violin Johnny's part, and the first violin Morrissey's vocal. Love the way they included Moz's vocal yelp ("Wha! A jumped-up pantry boy etc.") :)
