Bloody hell, I thought this event was long gone and buried by now. Just been once in 1999 during the magic week when United won the lot.

You should get out more.

No them days are over and I have never liked going out to be honest as it's just not me. I did only go out as such when in the UK cause going out here in Sweden is such a sad thing. Fancy me at 43 going out to a club. What a sad pathetic sight that would be.

There's a lot of 40-Somethings at The Smiths Night who still party like it's 1999, trust me. Being in Sweden is a bit of an obstacle mind, but don't let age put you off booking a cheap flight one month this year and blowing the dust off the hearing aid ;)

I think I've only been once since 1999 as well - and I live in Manchester :)

I tried going a year or so ago - ignored the advice about arriving early... stood in the cold for a bit, then got the tram home.

I think that abroad and especially in the UK it is ok to go out over a certain age but I am swedish and have a swedish view on this and will probably continue to feel that people over 40 should stay indoors and feed the cat and watch tv. I just cannot see that life should be the same whatever the age and there is a time for everything in life.

If I ever visit Manchester again it will be to watch United play. Although technically I would never visit Manchester as I would be landing in Liverpool and go straight to Stretford. I have faith that Man United will drop "Manchester" and just call the club "United".

That's fair enough I suppose, but christ, do you really think that once you reach 40 (and 40 is not old) you should be condemned to permanent domesticity? Get a grip man!

I think people get pathetic and sad over 40 if they try and hold onto what they did before. Slimey old men with grey hair, if they have any, drooling over teenage girls is sad cause people always go out to get laid and that's it and if people do not admit it then they are lying.

One can go out of course but not to clubs and bars but statistically going out at that age means you are more likely to be the victim of violence so it's up to you. I believe that going on and changing is needed for any individual to avoid becoming a tragic person stuck in a lifestyle of old.

40 and over is very very old and it is the age when diseases come and general pains that people never had before. Just fighting on and ignoring ones age is for those that are in denial and no matter how you view it is a sad sight. Like people at festivals over 40, I mean come on leave the teens alone and do not force them to smell your stinking bag of flesh.

Then we have the age you feel inside of course and how you approach things. I do not believe one have to marry and get kids and a mortgage and all that just because one gets older but I think one have an obligation to realise in what setups one should be seen in or not when reaching a certain age.

But people will do whatever they like these days and are allowed to so that is their decision. I just decided as I turned 40 that it was time to move on and leave a few things behind but one have to remember I am an incredibly boring person who have turned my back on all the people I once knew in real life and also stopped drinking and partying.

I live by the motto "hell is other people" if we talk about people you have to deal with in real life.

You're nuts if you think 40 is very old and I think the alternative to staying at home is not necessarily 'getting down with the kids'. Get real old man!

Also, just seen your bit at under your posts: ""If you're not a socialist when you're young you have no heart. If you're not conservative when you're an adult you have no brain".

--Harald in the swedish tv series "Hem till byn".
I am a socialist and I do have a brain, so there. You're just an old tory are you not Urban?

That is yet another proof of how it is time for you to mature and not live on with old impossible dreams. Letting go hurts but is necessary. Tory party values are not well known to me as a swede but if we talk about conservatism then that can be different depending on what country we talk about.

I am an anti-marxist.

So, you're views are that 40 is very old and after that you should stay at home and if you dare go out you are rekindling your lost youth and secondly that if you are left wing you are also simply hanging on to the past.
Well, you seem like a nice chap Urban so I'll respect your right to think what you want without my comments.
Atleast we both like Morrissey!

Haha, we haven't even got that in common. I stopped being a Moz fan years ago as with age you realise that having any idols is just foolish. I am just here to kill time and talk to people from the chatroom days.

Sorry!

No problem. How about this, I'm a Man. United fan.
Anyway, who cares, it's fun to chat with you.

Same there really, most Man United fans makes me sick and does not share any of my views or outlook on life which is perhaps best for them in the end. That club has the most divided fanbase and everything in this world is represented there. If for the fans I would have supported another club and at every home game I am ashamed of that quiet little place resembling a library of bored people who know nothing about football which one can see clearly when one reads the shitty webshites United fans have online.

The worst Man United fans are here in Sweden though and they really make me feel ashamed of where I live.

I am never fun to chat with for the most part but you are welcome anyway.
