He may well not have been ideal in everyones eyes but he`s the best one so far.I mean what went before John Major??:eek:Maggie. He`s certainly got more charisma than Gordon and that counts. Its like comparing Bush and Clinton.Clinton got away with so much crap because the guys got a personality.Tony Blair introduced tax credits and for that alone i am grateful.Without them my we would be completely poverty stricken. As i`m self employed i cannot give my job up and get income support or dole money.Iraq was Tony`s big mistake however.

For every winner there is a looser. I am paying more now in taxation than ever before. The rules governing IT contracters and Ltd Companies are now so tight I'm going back to employment - I have to pay tax on everything, I'm not even legaly permitted to take dividends from my own company, and then there is the IR35 rules, which makes it almost impossible to get a contract in the first place. He is killing small businesses like mine, which will be shut down over the next couple of months, once I am back to full time employment. :(

I don't have children, I run (ran) my own co. Every tax change he has implemented to help families has hurt me, and people like me. I don't begrudge the money going where it is needed, in fact I applaud it. It is just a shame that it is people like me who are paying for it. Well, that is what it feels like when I read the budgets..... Every time I seem to be on the list of Budget Loosers....

He broke every promiss he made about not raising taxes, about education, and most of the ones he made about the NHS.

And don't even get me started on the war!!!!!

Shame there were no mines left for him to close, or any real car industry to decimate... Ah, I just remembered why I hate Magie more...:D

We've just had 5 Interest rate rises in a row. Look out for the next bust, I'd bet you it is just arround the corner, but I'd be taxed on it:mad:

Especially when you know nothing about it :p

I admitted that...You can check the poll results if you don't believe me....

BTW, I got called out on it this morning

Are we still fighting, Amy?

I sent you an apology last night....

:D I saw SNS, I didn't mean it maliciously.

We're not still fighting, I hope not anyway. I don't carry arguments on unnecessarily, I don't enjoy them.

Apology..did you?

*throws towel in*

:)

I have no opinion on Mr. Blair...I just copied some stuff from Wikipedia, and thought I'd let the Brits air their opinions...I did the same about George W. two weeks again....and nobody called me a "Villan" for doing that....It was just a joke...but obviously, it rubbed some "northerners" the wrong way....

It would rub Northerners up the wrong way because of the hell-demon that was Margaret Thatcher, far more deserving of the title of your poll. And admitting you know little about the subject matter while posting a poll like that does scream ill-informed American poking oar in a little bit :p

I haven't called you a villain

No, Amy that was the person who started the Anti-SNS thread this morning....now, that ensured I only need one cup of cofee when I got up....

Actually, I did take a class on British Politics...but it was nearly as boring as International Relations, hence I switched to become a Liberal Studies major

The Instructor and I had great talks about Paul Weller though!

lol, I liked learning about International Relations, but they were probably different ones, and I'm a massive History geek. We did International Relations and WW1 for GCSE Paper 1, USSR/USA for Paper 2 and continuing stuff about the Bolsheviks etc for A/S and A2 :)

EDIT: <3 Paul Weller :D

Yes...History is my favorite subject...hence I'll be teaching 5th Grade....which covers American History....

My International Relations class wanted to discuss Uganda....And I can't do that objectively....

I know all about tax!!My business tax is extortionate.I have leasehold to pay,my home is remortgaged.I pay £1000 a month rent on my cafe and have all the bills from home and work.I only ever break even by the time wages have been paid and stock bought. The tax credit system is probably giving with one hand and taking away with another but with combined working tax and child tax(orfamily credit) a weekit keeps my head above water-just.Because i work in catering my public liabilty is sky high too.

lost the mines, fecked many businesses. huge unemployment, section 28, I cant be arsed writing more but yea she sucked.

The Mines

OK, lets say you own a business. That business is losing you a huge amount of money because people can buy the product you sell cheaper else where. Do you keep your business open even though you're losing money. Of course you bloody don't. That's what happened to the mines.

Unemployment

You cannot ignore the world recession in the early 1980s (of which we were one of the first to come out of thanks to Thatcher, Howe and Lawson), and of course the Trade Unions had in their ususal fashion priced out many people out of jobs by demanding wages far higher then their levels of production merited. Not to mention the damage done by 17 years of Socialism leading up to 1979.

'fecked many business'

I've no idea what you mean by this. If be 'fecked' you mean tore down state controls, lowered taxes, allowed more profit to be made and more people employed, then yes, she 'fecked' many business.

Section 28

Hey, some people believe different things than you. Doesn't make them 'evil' if they believe that children shouldn't be told about homosexuality at school. It was never mentioned in any lessons I was ever given but two good friends of mine happen to gay I didn't turn me into a knuckle dragging homophobe.

Ah ok. Over here in think they would be 9/10 in Year 5.

well first year is "Kindergarten"...although it's still "Optional"...but nobody in their right mind would not have their child in school at age 5-6
