What did make you smile today?

I waited 11 days for one package that was supposed to take two days. That was UPS. Another package took two weeks to ship, and then another 10 days to be delivered. That was Canada Post.

WW III is on! An Argentinian man crashed a car with explosives against the gates of Chinese Embassy in Buenos Aires. It seems it's Covid related. People are going crazy with this extended quarantine...

when i was waiting for the bus tonight a tubby lil raccoon came and sat very primly about a meter away and looked at me imploringly. he was so damn cute, i just LOVE raccoonies! if the bus hadnt have come right away i would've shared my pretzels with him.
then when i got home there were two VERY friendly--and well fed--kitties having around outside my door (a black and white one and a tortoiseshell one), each needing several good pats. i just love friendly kitties. <3

Wow. Don't they attack/bite? We don't have those here, so forgive the ignorance, but they do look very cool. When I was a kid, I had a Canadian penpal. One year for Christmas she sent me a kind of shaker thing (I think it was supposed to look authentically indigenous-y - whether it actually was I don't know). Imagine a hammer-shaped thing, with a thin tree branch as the handle, and the head some kind of hollow container wrapped in silver birch tree bark, containing dried peas or something. The point being, it had an ACTUAL raccoon's tail attached to the handle. I was very fond of it at the time. Which I'm slightly ashamed of now. In mitigation, it was 45 years ago.

oh yeah, i know what you're talking about. i've seen them. i've never seen them with a raccoon tail attached. that must have been some kind of special shaker. haha dont worry, i would've liked it too as a kid, not even thinking about the poor raccoon, OR liking it precisely because i like raccoons. the logic of children.
that's cool you had a canadian pen pal! did she live in a hollowed out tree?
well, okay, when i said i would've shared my pretzels with the raccoon, what i meant was i would've chucked him a couple from a safe distance. i wouldnt have fed them to him out of my hand or anything. i'm not afraid of them, and im afraid of everything (ive been known to let some very bossy squirrels chase me out of benches) so that tells you how unscary they are when you see them in person, but i am wary of getting too close to them. i dont think they're vicious by nature, but they can be a bit of a wild card if you get too close to them, if they feel threatened or if they have rabies (obviously). ive never known anyone to get attacked by one though (and they're everywhere here. my favourite thing is to see a family of them), and ive certainly never known of any to run at a person who wasnt bothering them and attack them, i think that would be unheard of. the way this particular one was sitting and watching me as if he wanted to ask me something, i just knew he was nice.
i didnt know they didnt have them in england! i guess thats whey there are no pinafore wearing raccoons in beatrix potter. :(

forgive me, im having an urbanus moment...

i had mentioned to pep how my grandma had escorted the queen when she came to victoria, and not for any reason really i decided to look it up to see if there was footage of it. couldnt find my grandma but that's my grandad at 2:13 with the queen. and yes, he looks like an overgrown version of the little guy from twin peaks.

(Documentary about Venice on tv...)

Dad: " - Have we ever been to Venice? Don't remember.
Mum: - No. Well, you have never been. Me, I've been 3 times."

:lbf:
Ah! Romance.

Today a pretty yellow/orange grey box turtle wondered into our yard and the baby birds in our peach tree have finally opened there eyes

Was walking around at Johns with my son by the water when he spotted a crab next to the landing in about four inches of water. Wasn’t sure if it was alive or not so told him not to touch it but after awhile the back started to open and we got to watch the whole of its molting process

Switching to a new bank that values you and actually know what they are doing. The old banks that are just banks are doomed.

"
:flamethrow:and it will be opened to you."

Right.

Let's be realistic for a minute, Google Translate petitioning God isn't going to work...

"Flame-flame!
-Who's there?!
-Jesus.
-Jesus who?
-Jesus kidding. It's King James, Sam. Just checking what version of the Bible you've got...
-I found it on Mporium. It's a Limited Edition.
-Ah. Figures...Did your uncle sign it?"

I've started watching "Mum", the tv series. So far, the recently widowed heroine suffers the many fools around her with remarkable good grace... Episode 1 was the funeral, ep 2 Valentine's day... Will she cope until Xmas? Will she blow a fuse before that?
