For the debate on how Morrissey feels about people who pop up on his doorstep, i found this excerpt of an interview in the website the Arcane Old Wardrobe, published by NME in 1991:

The door bell rings once. Morrissey looks uncomfortable.

"I can't imagine who that is, we'll just have to ignore it. But they may not go away. It happens."

There is no second ring but Morrissey is clearly alarmed.

"Some people sit and ring and ring and ring. And circle the house and peer through the windows. It's very tedious and very embarrassing because I don't know why they do it.

"I often think that if people really liked me and understood me and appreciated me they'd ring once and go away. But the people who persist, and believe me this happens everyday, well I don't really have anything to say to those people. To me that's not adoration, it's complete rudeness. How would you feel if I stood outside your garden gate and called your name out everyday?"

Where is that lovely picture of Moz's house and BMW?
A link will do quite nicely. Cheers, mates.

You simply lost the point or you're just irritating us? Would like his address and stay in front of the door bell and ring and ring and ring?

I'll never get to meet Morrissey because even if I saw him at a restaurant
I'd feel it was rude to even look at him, let alone interupt
his meal to ask for an autograph. I'm afraid he mostly only meets his biggest
stalkers and gets the wrong impression about his fans.

Moz...

...he has his ideal opportunity to pass on his thoughts and wishes to his fans via this website.

He can't be arsed.

So I think this should give you an ample insight to the nature of Moz's desired relationship with his public.

Well, I've said it before: I do not want Morrissey to become an active,
visible presence on this web site (except I'd like him to consider releasing
a song or two through this site). If he were a presence here, everyone would start affecting the personality they think Morrissey will want to see, and it
would become one big fellatio session. Now, I'm not saying I like the
way many people are here right now. This board is rather unfortunate to see much of the time. There's a scary amount of mental illness and childishness here, as well as some unpleasant crudeness. (YEs, I know a few people hate me as well!) But imagine what would happen if Morrissey started posting here. It would be worse than having to avoid all those Greased Tea messages. I don't like all the excessive, and what seems to me to be unfair, Morrissey bashing that goes on, but I'm glad people feel they can say whatever is on their minds.

I like it to be a place for those who are here even though they know there is not going to be any celebrity interaction. All I want from the guy is more music. And I like some amount of mystery about the guy.

Re: Moz...

That's very true. Urgh, what a thought.

Agreed. I certainly wouldn't like to see Moz actually posting on the mesageboards or anything, but it *would* be nice if he released statement every now and again. We don't even know where he's at ... has he retired? etc. etc. It wouldn't hurt to have an update every six months or so ....

I think I love you!! Thank you for speaking the truth in the midst of all this turmoil.

But he has sent us the message thru the media that he intends to release
another album at some point in the near future. And if you check imdb.com,
you'll see he's listed in the cast of an upcoming film. In the meantime,
we know that he's just hanging about, going to shows, like the rest of us.

I think we'll be hearing something within the next 6 months. We know he can't
release another compilation album! So he can't let another year pass without
something new.

Well, I guess he could do a box set...yikes!

No thanks. I'll just have the pictures, please.

So sooory, but I'd rather save my money for the box set of rehashed/re-re-re-released common Moz material that Ialready own 2-3 times over. I'd rather just have the pictures of his house if you don't mind.

6 months from now, he'll push back 5 months his "Best-Of the Best-Of" cd.

Confessions of a Moz Stalker

Oh ! Take me back to dear old Moz's house,
Put me on the plane for sunny L.A.,
Take me anywhere,
Drop me anywhere,
West Hollywood, Tarzana, or Burbank
But I don't care,
I should like to see my Mozzer...

Farewell to this message board's cheerless posters
They are such a bore with brains of toasters
His very Mopeness with his hair in a Quiff
I'm truly sorry - but it sounds like a wonderful gift

I said Mud, don't you ever pine
To appear on the front of the L.A. Times
Blessed by the Mozfans of this site?
Oh ...

And so, I checked all the Sunset Blvd. "Star Maps"
And I was shocked and amazed to discover
How to find the 18th pale descendant
Of some old queen or other

Oh has the world changed, or has Moz changed?
Oh has the world changed, or has Moz changed?

Some 32-year-old Thesp who stalks this board
I swear to GAWD
I swear : I never even knew who Suzanne was

Oh ...

So, I broke into his mailbox
With a Schlitz and rusty screwdriver
He said : "Eh, I know you and you cannot Act!"
I said : "That's nothing- you should see that guy 'Jay Tando'"

I can go see his lawn where there's bottles and trash
And take many precious pics
But when you post them on the message board
No-one talks about litigation
Oh ...

I can go to the Pub that he likes to go
And stalk about his neighborhood
Just avoid the law and security
Oh, these are the things that thrill me

Past the "BritPop" club who saps my body
And the Indie Record Shop who'll snatch my money
That Queen is dead, boys
And it's so crowded at his gym
Past the "Moz/Smiths-Nite" club that wrecks my body
And the Vinyl Fetish store- all they want is your money
That Queen is dead, boys
And I should know- cuz I met him

Life is very long, when you're in custody
Life is very long, when you're in custody
Life is very long, when you're in custody
Life is very long, when you're in custody

Moz / fans

...I don't expect him to post regularly, but a simple bloody Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I mean, come on, he's only in his gilded retirement home because, let's be frank, WE PAID FOR HIM TO BE THERE!

I know it's a very black and white way to look at it, but it's the truth!

While he's not accountable to us as such, he could surely repay (in part) the respect we have shown him for the past 18 years.

Eh, do you really need it? I've always gotten the vibe that he loves
his fans. He doesn't need to say it ad naseum. I suppose it would be nice if he sent a note now and again though.

There was a fair exchange - money for music. Seems to me he earned his
income with hard work and talent. What, because people buy something
he creates, they now own a piece of him?

Loafing Oaf

...I agree with you in part, but I think a minute's common courtesy and pleasantry from Moz would literally MAKE a few of our Christmas and New Years.... and Morrissey, with his fawning obsessive adoration of the NY Dolls, knows EXACTLY what we mean by this.

His zero interest in this, the most populated Moz site on the web, seems churlish and unnecessary, after all, it's obvious he's a regular reader, what with his obsessive fascination with all his press clippings and reviews, it stands to reason.

Strange man indeed.

mmm... he doesn`t have an "official site", he doesn`t do things other artists do, like playing his great success in his shows, he doesn`t give so many interviews... and we love him, because we feel he is always sincere. He is strange and his fans respected him, because they feel he is not like the others.

i don`t know - this makes part of his "charm"!
