The history of music is full packed with cover versions of our favorurite songs.
Some have been ditched by some creepy musicians, others have been even improved by some random genius.
That said, close to the age of 30, I’m quite sure, not mentioning his amazing own material, that Greg Dulli, former leader of The Afghan Whigs and now at his 5th album with The Twilight Singers, is probably the very best man in doin' covers, pushing the idea behind the song itself a bit further, somewhere else, often a better palce. spirited.
Of course, these are just my thoughts.
Off just some exemples of what i’m trying to explain:
LOST IN THE SUPERMARKET - The Clash, The Afghan Whigs
I KEEP COMING BACK - Tyron Davis, The Afghan Whigs
THE DARK END OF THE STREET - James Carr, The Afghan Whigs
TOO THOUGH TO DIE - Martina Topley Bird, The Twilight Singers
BLACK IS THE COLOUR OF MY TRUE LOVE’S HAIR - Nina Simone, The Twilight Singers
HEY YA - The Outkast, The Twilight Singers

I know most of you, dear readers, have your own best band in covers. Well, fire away!
