Profile

Born in England's Essex on 11 November 1991, Emma Blackery became one of the most notable british YouTubers and musicians. She set off her YouTube career in May 2012, creating her self-titled YouTube channel. Her content would vary from vlogs, skits, comedies, challenges, and storytimes.

Aside from her YouTube career, Blackery would start releasing music independently. Her debut EP Human Behaviour came out in early 2012. Produced by Simon Clowting for a cheap price, Blackery said that the EP "wasn't the best produced thing". Her second EP, Distance, was released in July 2013, topping the iTunes rock chart and receiving critical acclaim. Perfect, her fourth EP, was released in November 2014. Its title track topped the UK Independent Singles Breakers Chart for and entered the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart at number eight. To support the release of the EP, Emma went on tour with the lead vocalist of the rock band Busted, Charlie Simpson.

Jason Perry produced Blackery's EP, Sucks to Be You, which was released in 2016. The three-track release was a drastic change for her musically, taking a pop-punk direction. For the promotion of the EP, Emma went on the Pigs Can Fly Tour with the band Busted, as their opening act. Another EP titled Magnetised was released in 2017, which marked Emma's UK Album Chart entry, at number sixty-three.

Emma began working on her debut album, Villains, in October 2017, shortly after founding her independent RWG Records. Its lead single "Dirt", produced by Toby Scott, was released in March 2018 and was featured on Spotify's New Music Friday UK playlist. Other singles from the album included "Agenda", "Icarus", and "Take Me Out", which were all released until the album's official due date in August 2018. Villains experienced commercial success, debuting and peaking at twenty-four on the UK albums chart.

Blackery released her EP, My Arms Are Open, on 15 May 2020, whose lead single was "Wolves". Her second album, Girl in a Box, was released in August 2021. Prior to the release of the LP, "Crying", "Brutus", "My Terms", "Shadowplay", and "Ridicule" were promoted as singles, with the first three receiving alternative remixes. A cover of The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now?" was also featured on the album and got a music video.

Blackery managed to garner a million subscribers in 2015, letting her win the golden creator award, as well as many collaborations with other YouTubers. She also wrote her own book called "Feel Good 101: The Outsiders' Guide to a Happier Life".
