Nirvana admitted to being INFLUENCED by such bands as the Pixies. However, they ripped off Mudhoney. The Pixies are a great band and one of my favorite live bands, but I don't see as much as their influence in Nirvana as I do Mudhoneys. Just my opinion.
Ah Wormy...Yes, the Pixies were very good as well, but Mudhoney is who Nirvana ripped off. Regardless of originality, these two bands changed what music sounded like on the alternative radio. Before Nirvana stardom, you had big hair bands dominating the airwaves in the US. Nirvana squashed that...
The Clash was the only band that mattered in the late 70s early 80s. Ian Curtis and Joy Division could have been, The Ramones/Pistols were originally ugly, but The Clash were simply the best. Joe Strummer is a God, before and after the band broke up. A true spirit. The next band to make such an...
Did you forget that we have met? You are much younger than me so I am going to have to say "no", because you don't need one. Now, if by chance you have been smacked by a double decker bus and need one to get around, then by all means please bring it in as I will piggy back on the way out. I...
Thank for the Merry Happy Joy sentiments. Sorry, I haven't been on the site in some time and I come back on here and Morrissey folks are slamming the temple of alternative rock in Chicago, the Aragon. She might be an old pig of a place to see a show, but it is a great venue with a great history...

My Dear Chicagoans,
Can we stop sounding like we are in pure "mope" mode here. The Aragon has a HUGE history with not only Morrissey, but with The Smiths as well. The Smiths played the Aragon for the Meat tour and the QID tour in the mid-eighties. Some GREAT memories that should have all...
Yes, I listened to Pearl Jam all Friday and I thought "How can someone dislike this band and lead singer, so toughtful, insightful, and talented." I went to an INCREDIBLE rock and roll show on Friday night at the Riv: The Hold Steady (big Smith lyric fans) and the Drive-by Truckers. One of the...
Awesome thread and great list NGNM..shit...I thought I was a lister. Punk changed it ALL!
Little known fact I read in a Joe Strummer biography: When The Clash were looking for a lead singer a young singer from Manchester applied for the position. I bet you can't guess who applied for that...
