    Leeds - First Direct Arena (Mar. 6, 2020) post-show

My immediate observations- Three new songs played- Jim Jim Falls (electronic and catchy, but with pretty unimaginative “please commit suicide” lyrics) and Once I Saw the River Clean (lyrics much more intriguing, references to a road in Manchester and an Irish grandmother). Only other new song...

    Leeds - First Direct Arena (Mar. 6, 2020) post-show

Just got back- can confirm this is correct, the unknown song was (I believe) Once I Saw the River Clean.

"Bobby, Don't You Think They Know?" release (Jan. 10, 2020); album sleeve revealed?

Like much of California Son, it's so overly bombastic, ridiculous, hilariously camp and cheesy (sax solo and all) that I sorta love it. That's not at all what I (or anyone) first listened to Morrissey for, but at least he's embracing the melodramatic old queen that he's become. Though Thelma...

The Irish Times: Ezra Furman interview - Morrissey mentions (31 Aug., 2019)

No problemo. If you want to explore further, any of the last four albums are all superb but to provide a brief overview- Day of the Dog- Supposedly intended as Ezra's last album, but instead became the one that launched their career in the UK. Mostly shorter tracks, great fun and lots of...

The Irish Times: Ezra Furman interview - Morrissey mentions (31 Aug., 2019)

Reasonable as always- Ezra Furman is, in my opinion, one of the greatest musical artists of the last decade. Think a combination of Lou Reed, Dylan and Spingsteen with added gender fluidity.

    Strange/unexpected Moz references?

A Smiths song title presumably provided the inspiration for the headline of this article on Oswald Mosley's inclusion in the latest season of Peaky Blinders- This Charming Monster (no other reference to Morrissey within the article, if you were curious)

Morrissey Central: "Monroe and Morrissey" & "Iggy and Morrissey" (7 August, 2019)

Who knew Marilyn Monroe was 10ft tall? I’m also a tad concerned about where Morrissey’s left hand is heading...

    Johnny - I don't think that's really a surprise that I would disagree with what Morrissey's saying

Or even more recent- the lead single from CS literally has Moz asking a man called Bill to marry him!

Is this what Morrissey was getting at?

For what it's worth, Stormzy has since apologised- https://www.theguardian.com/music/2017/nov/22/stormzy-apologises-for-unearthed-homophobic-tweets (linking to Moz's favourite website just for the lolz)

    Missing albums on Spotify/Apple?

Quarry, Ringleader and Refusal all removed from Apple Music for me (UK) as well- any ideas as to why? Swords and Maladjusted (reissue) are still available though, along with all the other reissues of recent years.
