Morrissey isn't averse to alcohol, but I've only heard of his being unpleasantly drunk on one occasion, during the last days of The Smiths, when he was uncharacteristically aggressive and hostile, presumably due to stress. He also used to ask his bandmates for cigarettes after a few drinks...
Well, ghost stories are traditional at Christmas, and Morrissey tells it much better than I could, so, here's the link to the interview in which he tells it:

It's bloody terrifying, in my humble opinion. And I've been to...
I particularly like two stories I can vaguely recall. In the first, Morrissey had to move house while he was in The Smiths, and got (I think) Mike Joyce to help him. Joyce was disturbed to find the darkened house largely bare, except for weight-training equipment and pictures of James Dean. In...
Get him 'The World Won't Listen'. Best Smiths compilation in my opinion, and an utterly fantastic cover featuring brooding German leatherboys.
On second thoughts, don't stress that bit.
P.S. The other inner sleeve picture of the four girls who look like The Smiths is hilarious. he might...
I'm not sure being drunk or stoned at a Morrissey gig is such a good idea. It seems a bit disrespectful to the Great Man, and something of a waste of money, plus you can end up annoying everyone else. My girlfriend and I got horrendously drunk at Morrissey's last UK gig at Wembley (I blame the...
I'm sure the NME's defence lawyers will leave no stone unturned in their attempt to prove Morrissey is a racist. If he is, it will come out. Let's hope not, eh? :(
If the NME didn't think doing all this would end up giving the BNP a new high profile 'supporter' and some free publicity, they are even more stupid than I thought. Morrissey should immediately and publicly repudiate the BNP, but I doubt he will.
All the tabloids seem to be covering this...
No Smiths/Moz, eh? Fair enough..
In no particular order (unless I'm drunk, in which case I tend to slur that the first three are 'the Greatest Albums of All Time')..
1) Searching for the Young Soul Rebels - Dexys Midnight Runners
2) It's a Shame About Ray - The Lemonheads
3) George Best...
'East West', as originally sung by Herman's Hermits, was a Christmas single about wanting to be home with the folks when you're stuck on tour drinking champagne, staying in classy hotels, and being chatted up by busty beauties. Perhaps not overly convincing.. Morrissey changed the lyrics...
I must have seen him in the 80s, but I can't consciously remember, though I vaguely recall thinking The Smiths were irritating for some reason. I was very young.. My first clear memory of him is in 1992 when he was filmed backstage at Madstock and ironically said something like 'into the lion's...
One of his very best songs. I remember how, in a lecture theatre in Manchester University, someone had carved the entirety of this song's lyrics into one of the desks. And quite right too. :)
