There's a fundamental lack of reasoning from the Mozster here. If he is crediting them with his own lack of success (which, as we all know, is self inflicted) for printing factual accounts, then he is crediting them with a degree of influence.

Why, then, is he highlighting his perception of their lack of influence?

He's highlighting the fact that because they have poor circulation that they have an incentive to sensationalize their stories and invent outrage.
For someone who supposedly does not like Trump, it's a very Trumpian thing for Moz to do. Trump always responds to criticism with "The failing CNN..." or "The New York Times, who are losing money hand over fist..."

The Guardian hate campaign against Morrissey is typical for the UK. Unless you are a diversity superfan, everyone is suspicious of you and wants to annihilate your ability to speak. If you were all millionaires, I can sympathize with your diversity stance But the truth is, your government is using it to keep you oppressed so you wont ask why you have no future stemming from their dismal economic policy. Jim Jones did it too. SOP for tyranny.

You keep papping on about number 4. Number 4 means nothing, it had 8300 sales? Something has had an impact, that's 16700 less than LIHS and less than Johnny's Call The Comet first week sales.
You forgot to mention New Order. Hide your face while taking out your wheelie bin.

A covers album is clearly going to get low sales compared to a new album of his own material.

These are historic figures, by the way. While still lower, The Guardian is one of the better performers right now. See here...

Damn. You just made me buy the album. You need to stop before sales hit the roof.
Also, I quite like that graph image. It’s soothing. Think I might get it framed.
Anyroad.. who actually buys physical newspapers. Manual labourers? When’s the last time you saw a paperboy in a white middle class area? All those tight arsed commuters grabbing at their free Metro. They don’t even wrap up chips in those inky rags anywhere. Everyone’s too busy exchanging images of their incarcerated cockapoo, or whatever furball fashion statement is current.
Brains of concrete. Goodnight.

Morrissey sold out 4 of the largest and most prestigious venues in London last year. If you had some knowle of the music industry as Alan McGee and Noel Gallager have said the future of music is Spotify and I suggest this printing up of vinyl treats is more a display of an affection for his audience than a man trying to make money - records don't sell like they did for anyone no matter how big a star - if all you've got is this petty limitless dreary hate for him what you turn up for?

Reckon dude, The California Son really hates Brittin. I reckon wtf? Let it go California's Son. Look on the bright side bro. You used a bunch of Brittish foreigners (The Smiths) to launch your billion dollar empire solo career as The California Son. Good on ya m8 inn nn nnnn nnnn nnn nn n nn c*** tit chipper curry in n n it.

And the point of publishing these figures is?

The Guardian has always been a low circulation publication in print terms. That’s never taken away from the respect, rightly or wrongly, that it attracts. There is also the online content, which is considerable.

There is no “vendetta” to get him. Why? He’s doing just fine in ruining his legacy all by himself.

Morrissey is playing games with his reputation and musical career. He is losing.

Has it nothing to do with it being a covers album, you think? A covers album preceded by terribly bad press at that (no matter the reason for said press coverage). Isn't it safe to assume that the numbers would have been vastly different had it been an album of original material?
Let's try and make this discussion a bit more nuanced and less divisive, please.

It's (a) because he's a petty nutter, who will never take responsibility for his own failings, and (b) there's nothing to see there.
M

Morrissey hasn't changed you were too thick to get him in the first place and now you're trying to bully him into your narrow onebrain fits all way of thinking

The Guardian died when they let Mi5 destroy the Wikileaks hard drives ,it's now an arm of state disinformation and propaganda .You have been warned !
