"Besides Luxembourg and beyond, I am excited about the October release of Swords, which is an 18-track compilation of b-side of singles from the last three albums. This will be a Polydor release."

This is Moz's word play coming out again - the pointy-weapon things, and, perhaps, the North Dublin suburb, near the Airport?

Ah, you're probably right. I immediately interpreted it as a phallic reference, you know "crossing swords" and such.

Re: So, a new compilation album 'Swords'

maybe a couple of the unreleased titles might be on there. doubt it though.

Re: So, a new compilation album 'Swords'

Surprised no one has quoted from 'Paint A Vulgar Picture' yet!:thumb:

Maybe the first load of Quarry B-sides that appeared on the Quarry Deluxe edition wont be on it.....

they're bound to be on it. that wasn't really a proper stand-alone album so I think it's fair enough.
many of the Quarry b-sides were really splendid, the ROTT ones less so, and there's only been two for YOR, tho hopefully he'll include the AYNIM b-sides which were pretty decent...

Re: So, a new compilation album 'Swords'

I really am a bit more optimistic that we will see some new material on this. I think we stand a good chance that this will be partially a way to use some of the probably unused YOR b-sides, or at least this may get a single with a b-side or two.

Re: So, a new compilation album 'Swords'

If you are a Morrissey fan, you just gotta love those b-sides! Original songs are nice, but even the recent live songs sound allright. I enjoyed those.

I don't believe this is a "cash cow" scheme, but rather a realization that today's music-buying consumer has not the patience nor inclination to buy singles anymore, so the b-side compilation is a nice option for those people in the majority.

He really puts his best work on those b-sides and I believe he does that intentionally. He get a kick out of making his fans sniff down these songs like pigs hunting truffles. :lbf: But, the compilation is nice, too.

Maybe an outing, at last, for "Home Is A Question Mark"?

""I do not flinch if the doorbell rings, I sit and yawn with my curtains drawn; saintly patience tips so easy to sin - will the last laugh be yours?"

Re: So, a new compilation album 'Swords'

If you don't want it, don't buy it?

You miss read my post. I was saying I was surprised no one had mentioned 'Paint a vulgar picture' because that is the norm around here when a reissued and repackaged product comes around, rather than me screaming 'paint a vulgar picture'.

Though for the record, I wont be buying it like I didnt buy the greatest hits album either. I have no problem with these releases as I just dont buy them. I own every song already, that's all I need, each song once.
