Chrissie Hynde defends Morrissey in interview

Scans from James.

Mail on Sunday ‘Event’ magazine, 04/08/18.

Excerpt:

She defends her pal Morrissey, who has recently been accused of racism for speaking out in favour of the far-right For Britain party and having described the Chinese as 'a sub-species' in 2010.

'I'm proud to be one of what he calls his seven friends,' smiles Hynde. 'He made a reference to the Chinese and that got him into trouble, but he was talking about the practices of how they treat dogs and put them in cages and bludgeon them to death. He's an animal-rights guy and he gets emotionally upset by the treatment of animals.'

She still sometimes meets Morrissey 'for an impromptu pint' at her local pub in Maida Vale, west London.

I agree. It's interesting that the most hopeless, nihilistic and self loathing people are the very ones to call others out for racism and other -isms at every chance. If you have any concerns about how global financiers are engineering your country into becoming a third world shithole for everyone who isn't rich, you're a fascist!

Hynde flippantly saying Maida Vale is Jihadi Central - how offensive!

To who - jihadis?

You agree with Derek cause you're also a f***ing idiot.

I can assure you that society would be vastly different if Britain were to be, say, 60% Muslim. If things were to stay on course, people in the year 2100 would watch Keeping Up Appearances and see a world that is wholly unrecognizable. To suggest that nothing ever changes and nothing ever gets better and everything is always shite no matter what is a horrible worldview. We can decide which way we want to go, and our choices today will matter tomorrow; believe me.

As far as dystopian sci-fi goes yours stands out, I'll give you that. There's very little dystopian sci-fi involving people watching Keeping Up Appearances.

What is this high profile militant animal rights activists and their hate towards people based on their race or religion. They are so picky about which groups they choose to highlight. Guess they have Hitler to look up to too as a role model with his anti vivisection laws.

This is terrible logic. Hopeless nihilism will not get you anywhere. Life can improve.
It's funny you say hopeless nihilism when my message is the complete opposite. When I said life was/is shit it certainly wasn't literal.
My entire point is that a person should never let nostalgia go too far or hold any real sway in their decisions and behavior, as they may be remembering things from a skewed solipsistic perspective.

Or you know, comments like "Jihadi central." Birds of a feather flock together and all that.

Yes, and all the small minded haters can go burn their Pretenders records too! Just like the unthinking religious fanatics that burned
Beatles records. Somethings never change.

USE YOUR LOAF !

But thinking too practically kills the need to create art. If Moz wasn't a maudlin romantic dreamer type there would have been no Smiths.

Eh, I've never been a fan to be honest. I just thought it unhelpful phrasing. Reductive and unnecessary.

He was also financed by the same bankers f***ing up the world today. But it's rarely mentioned.

Oh, those 'international bankers, eh? 'international (wink wink) bankers'.

The bankers that bankrolled Hitler, they must be pretty old by now, in a way it's impressive if they're still f***ing up the world.

You have to have passion over practicality as art is impractical by definition. You have to strike a balance between the two, and that balance is something different for everyone. Too far into the ether, you're a nut. Too practical, you're a bore, or German.

Yes, but it says something about how controlled we are by the system/mass media and its voluntary self policing minions on social media, that if we air an opinion that isn't rigidly left-liberal we already know in advance we will be destroyed.

The uttering of a few words to defend Morrissey shouldn't really be a heroic act, but it evidently is.

We are living in totalitarian times. But instead of visible guns and jackboots the stranglehold is far more subtle, but no less effective in its powers to silence.

It seems to be a heoric act for public figures. Our invisible chains now are more powerful than actual chains a century ago. By the simple fact we can't broke and escape from today's chains. We are all identified, tagged and surveilled. There are actual jails and there are virtual jails.

No wink wink needed. Bankers are bankers aren't they?

Ahh, I get it, you want me to refer to their religion. Well I can assure you, the only God that exists for bankers is money!

Yes but who decides what is ‘balance’ and what it is to be a ‘nut’?

Passion trumps practically when it comes to expressing ones true authentic self where the only authority is ones self and no one or no-thing else should force you away from that inner voice, though it’s sad that so many will
and do go to their graves never hearing that inner voice.

Humbling airing an opinion is hardly swinging your member in public.

In all honesty, I think you have a personal vendetta against Morrissey - a few people do on this site. You seem unnaturally offended.

Thats where the INSANE part of the INSANE MUSLIM CLOWN POSSE comes in. Im pretty certain that they feel Moz should contact each one of them and ask for their 'sincere' opinions before he formulates a thought of his own. They have the mentality of children FFS.

What if a person is young and it is not nostalgia but a better future that is driving them? I just don't think your assertion bears any weight. Sure, nostalgia can skew your perception in some regards, and the past isn't coming back, but that doesn't mean the future isn't worth our attention. Certainly, we shouldn't be accepting the hand we're being dealt while we're in a crooked casino.

I hate to break this to you, but when you draw attention to something not in the text of a post but in the text of a picture attachment it still counts.

Or is it like "oh, I just posted some completely random anti-banker meme, did it mention Jews? I never even noticed"?
