Earth vs The Pipettes

Having not kept up with the internal drama of The Pipettes since their debut album and never expecting to hear from them again I downloaded their new album out of sheer curiousity and a desire to slag their lame new attempt off with some back-up.
Turns out I've never been more wrong - it's one of the most exciting, well-crafted pop albums I've heard for quite some time. Everyone should check it out. Fun, sing-a-long-able, and dancey.

And because there is never a time that this song won't cheer you up.

I loved their first album, and the subsequent songs I'd heard live were fantastic. They've got some seriously talented songwriting skills behind them.
I always preferred Gwen's voice but it was a real shame that Rose Dougall left as it was great to hear different singing styles.
It's great news that they've got a second album together. Will definitely buy it but, sadly, they just can't seem to capture people's attention despite the undeniable quality of their music. Not cool enough for NME/XfM, and too pop (whatever that actually means) for Radio 1 or Absolute Virgins.
Should be perfect for Radio 2 but, for some reason, even they are not playlisting the singles.

The Rose Elinor Dougall album is the one to watch, saw her live recently and the songs sound very strong indeed.
