"Gill and co-writer William Thacker are conspicuously evasive about the teenager's emotional/sexual development — or lack thereof — mirroring their subject's decades-long coyness on his sexuality. Perhaps wary of lawsuits from the notoriously litigious star, the writers scatter occasional hints"

If there was one thing I was sure of, it was that Morrissey's homosexual leanings would be swept under the carpet in this film. Why am I not surprised?

It seems strange to expect Smiths songs to feature in the film when they've not yet been written...

I agree though it seems to be mentioned a lot. I would expect a lot of New York dolls and T. rex along with other less obvious influences myself. I think people still want to make it a smiths movie in the same way some wanted a smiths biography instead of auto biography. As to his sexuality what did people expect. In his early interviews he claims almost no sexual experiences in his youth. Is there some factual bit or experience I'm just unaware of or do people just assume something

least the performances get the thumbs up,one for the fans only.i also give credit to anyone who gives their time and money in making an independent film these days because theirs very little return, just ask ken loach.

Typical moronic film critics. Regardless of time period how would an independent film secure the rights to Smiths songs anyway?

I reckon I wouldn't go see this movie for all the Yankee caps, Levi's 501's, and Air Jordans in the world. I reckon I am going to start filming in Van Nuys the sequel "Uncle Steve does LA". It will start at the end of the Smiths when he dropped over rated guitarist Portland, Oregon's own John Maher and his move to LA in 1996 for when his real career started. The good thing is you can just film on the street in Beverly Hills and Hollywood and don't need a permit, Malibu will be a problem.

Always knew you were stuck in the 90's. Can I use your time machine, I have unfinished business in the 90's to attend to?

By asking kind permission to the owner(s) of the rights and in return give "something" back?
Couldn't the movie profit from it too and have a bigger promotion?
I mean it didn't need to be completely authorised by Moz but they should not be surprised he will respond to it very criticality now.
What do you think marred?
Just interested in your opinion.
Cheers

I can't wait to hear what Morrissey thinks of the film. Will he even want to see it? Will the film makers supply him with a copy to watch in private? Or maybe he took a quick trip from Rome to Edinburgh this weekend... Did anyone who went to see the film notice an unusually tall, funny-nosed, spiky haired nurse with enormous ears wearing a Superman cape in attendance?

He should be like Ingmar Bergman who got sent every movie made to his house on the island of Gotland. I think Morrissey watches more films than most and not only old black and white ones. But I am certain he returns to his favourite old movies and watches them over and over again.

I wonder if Morrissey has a nice movie theatre like Bergman did?

what we expected, Morrissey was before his Smiths years, a loner, a dreamer..think you have to know this to give the film a chance, ..long talks,...think the actress who plays Linder, the best role in the film,...and indeed it isn't the Smiths days, hopefully some gigs Morrissey went to see, and Billy Duffy.

It's On,
