I'm really looking forward to this collaboration - "Children in pieces" "My dearest Love"

He has worked on many soundtracks Babel Motorcycle Diaries, Amores Perros, Brokeback Mountain....lets just ignore his song with Nelly Furtado.

Here's the Motorcycle Diaries theme -

I only know his work from Brokeback Mountain, but the theme from that film sent shivers down my spine. Very much looking forward to the Moz collaboration, it's great to see him working outside of his usual circle again.

Coiff.

He also composed and played two songs in collaboration with Osvaldo Golijov and Dawn Upshaw on this album: http://www.amazon.com/Osvaldo-Golij...bs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1208620516&sr=8-1.

This album contains two song cycles, one newly composed, one collected in the 60s, both centered around folk tunes from the Middle East, Europe, and America, and combining musical influences from the entire Western world. The first half in particular is really interesting to listen to.

When the name Santaolalla came up recently in connection with Morrissey, I knew it seemed familiar, but couldn't place it. I finally realized he was involved in this album which I bought a couple of months ago after seeing a Golijov opera. The connections... I'm very excited to hear the two new songs.

Sorry Friends, but He's not as good as you think. I'm argentinian too and I know him from the beggining. He's produced too much trash, now because he's got an Oscar in his hand, not should be a genius, no no no.
I'm truly disappointed...:tears:

Look for the artists he produced in latinoamerica and you'll see.
Juanes, Julieta Venegas, Arbol, León Gieco, Bersuit Vergarabat. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh:mad:

People from here who loves good music, hates those artists.... I swear.

Gustavo NO EXISTIS HERMANO!!!
O dedicate a hacer música para películas que aparentemente sos mejor que con el rock.

Wow didn't expect this thanks very much. I know where you're coming from I'm Irish and recently an irish musician called Glen Hansard won an oscar for music written for the film "Once". I think that its a disgrace that someone who's music is so mundane watered down and lacking in technique and musical innovation should get an Oscar. Maybe it says more about the meanninglessness of the oscars themselves though.

:)

Hmmm...sorry mate, no need for criticizing Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova in here.
I was very lucky to see their live after the screening of the film.
IMHO, the film is very good and rightly deserved an Oscar because it's an Irish indie film which nearly didn't get made.

As you stated, in a way Academy Awards is a self-serving industry event, however, it means alot to Irish film industry which is often neglected by rest of the world.

Well yes .... My bad for drawing such a loose parrallel. It still remains that the film itself did not win an Oscar. My opinion springs from my not so distant teens when I saw "The Frames" several times(before they became "famous") for the sake of tagging along with friends. I also found the film to be very slow paced and unexciting. Just my opinion.

Anywhooo swerving off topic so I'll leave it there.
