Health care (argue here)

Thanks for all the good wishes, everyone. :) I don't like drama, but this is all a part of the health care debate, as it is experienced in real time, by real people.

I just got the go-ahead for a biopsy this morning, after going to the hospital myself, and refusing to leave until I spoke to the people in charge.

America is an insane, insane, place. Obama clearly knows what the best solution is, the progressive Dems have the right idea, the moderates are spineless (but they still know right from wrong), the Republicans are playing a deadly political game, and those who call themselves "Conservatives" appear to be completely, intractably, dangerously insane.

How come the inmates are running the asylum?

Yes, but I'm still not sure what the wardens are so afraid of. Not only is right on their side, but so is public opinion (at least where health care is concerned).

Bill Clinton got it right: pass good legislation and, scary as things may get, good things will follow. Pass no legislation (or bad legislation), and nothing good will come of it.

It's nothing new. Things go forward for awhile, then history loses steam. "The best lack all conviction", as Yeats wrote at the end of an earlier cycle. Time for the next great democratic civilization emerge and get humanity a little closer to Utopia. Or, at the very least, universal health care and the cancellation of the Glenn Beck show. :rolleyes:

Maybe he'll get swine flu, lose his job, and have to pay out-of-pocket for his six weeks in the ICU. Then maybe he'll have a tenth of a clue.

IMO, this whole whole health plan is apart of population control...

How to Control Rising Health Care Costs

With the House’s passage of a health care bill and the Senate legislation possibly moving to the floor for debate next week, many analysts are saying that neither bill goes far enough to slow rising health care costs — an issue that President Obama has made central to his reform agenda.

We asked some experts what are one or two provisions not in the bills that could help contain health care costs going forward?

* Jacob S. Hacker, political science professor
* Len M.Nichols, New American Foundation
* Gail Wilensky, Project Hope
* Joseph Antos, American Enterprise Institute
* Daniel Callahan, co-founder of the Hastings Center
* Leslie Greenwald, RTI International
* Arnold Kling, EconLog
* Regina E. Herzlinger, Harvard Business School
* Michael Chernew, health care economist
