A photo-feature by Kevin Cummins of Morrissey in Japan was included in the October 19, 1991 edition of the NME. Morrissey supplied all the captions in his inimitable child-like scribe
with comments under pictures of japanese fans and of himself -quite entertaining

mr bret did write with the help of kanako a bit more in his book whichis better when you read it yourslelf but alot of the gig descriptions you can find in the passions reviews
i wonder about the japanese dfans if there are still that enthusiatic about the moz as thy were back then(he got the same wild reactions as everywhere else appeared) and the smiths was known even though they never played there
i read a comment of another singer who had for a short time a beatlesesque following of young japanese fans who saw in him "some weird prince of darkness " back then in the 80 ties where everywhere else he gets a quite different ,more calm reaction when he appears...its good old blixa bargeld from einstürzende neubauten whom i quote from memory
he said something like: "being a fan of someone is such a big part of japanese culture(or teenage culture?) and theyre very hip and alwayds know the latest trends and create something their own of the different western influences and if you dont continue visit them on a reguar basis to remain interest they find someone new to be interested in...we didnt visited japan not for quite a long time and ( the interest in us) its different now"
even though i know little about japan i saw a book about the fashion style of japanese teenagers and they really make it their own -mix western country style and create something new so thats a pretty unique style which you cant see elsewhere
i read also there is an unauthorised translation of all smiths songs translated in japanese but the translation where absolutely false aswell as the subtitles for the hammersmith concert 91 which got aired on a japanese channel
some scene i quote from memory from brets book where moz visits a temple in tokyo (?) and gets photgraphed by people even though they dont know him but he cuts such an unusal personna that he gets attention nonetheless...
