There are many dramas regarding our man in 2007:

1) Morrissey turned down Eurovision Song contest
http://www.morrissey-solo.com/articles/07/01/15/1957237.shtml

2)Morrissey picks his grave ("Hollywood Forever" cemetery)
http://www.morrissey-solo.com/articles/07/06/12/1753206.shtml

3)Cancellations/postponements (and subsequent conspiracy theories) of several summer USA shows including Madison Square Garden and Miami
http://www.morrissey-solo.com/articles/07/06/30/0012210.shtml

http://www.morrissey-solo.com/articles/07/10/03/004212.shtml

4) Morrissey endorsement of the Chivas US Soccer team
http://www.morrissey-solo.com/articles/07/09/14/1612255.shtml

5) Morrissey remarks in San Francisco that he wants an artificial womb and then to inseminate himself with his own sperm
http://tour.morrissey-solo.com/tour/07/09/23/1616231.shtml

by anon
"Later he said something similar to "Did you know that medical science has figured out how to make an artificial womb in a women's stomach? Which means, of course, that she can have a baby. It follows that they can put an artificial womb into a man's stomach. Well, I popped my name down on the list. In fact, I am the list. And I am going to inseminate myself with my own sperm so there can be absolutely no doubt who the father is."
and Mel torment said
"I would've lain awake all night pondering Mozzer's bizarre joke about donating his own sperm for his artificial pregnancy. After the show, as my friend John from Manchester and IMAET fame said, you know Morrissey is having a good time if he is talking utter nonsense. Therefore, Morrissey must've been having the time of his life!" (Special thanks to vicarinatutugal :))

6) LA Palladium gig stage invader kissing him full on the mouth
http://www.morrissey-solo.com/articles/07/10/04/1649214.shtml

7)Kristeen Young ousted from the tour after her "heady" remarks
http://www.morrissey-solo.com/articles/07/10/26/1734207.shtml

8)Halloween show in Baltimore featuring the lads in loincloths while Moz is fully dressed, including a jacket
http://tour.morrissey-solo.com/tour/07/10/30/1819209.shtml

9) NME interview controversy, inciting posts [supposedly] by the NME editor and Merck Mercuriadis to the main page of Solo
http://www.morrissey-solo.com/articles/07/11/19/1754216.shtml

10) New recording contract with Porydor/Decca and Jerry Finn (not Visconti) will be producer of Moz's next studio album
http://www.morrissey-solo.com/article.pl?sid=07/12/03/232229

no one in particular originally listed the following topics:

- "Plumbing malfunction" at LA Palladium resulting in two cancelled shows

- Cancellation of the final show (Miami) of the back-to-back two rounds of USA touring with subsequent expunging of the TTY post about it which had included the statement "More details will follow." [but none ever did]

- Moz turning down Smiths reunion tour for $75 million

- At the Norfolk, VA show, Morrissey remarks about Madonna: ""I wouldn't be surprised if she [Madonna] made that African boy into a coat and wore him ... for 15 minutes, and then threw it away."

- Moz's denial of any involvement in deciding upon the issuing of season tickets or the way concert tickets are sold/priced (statement on TTY).

Many thanks to no one in particular for the suggestion.

Thank you very much for taking part in the poll. :)

Great poll!

I voted the recent nme immigration-racist stitch-up and fallout, though I wish it weren't so. Actually, I was bored with it before it even began.

The 2nd drama IMO would have to be related to no one in particular's suggestion of Mozzer's TTY statement that he was not involved in the issuing of season tix/the way they are sold/priced -- the whole drama stemming from his Aug. 22nd TTY press release hinting at impending retirement and that he turned down 75M to reform the Smiths.

I don't see why the above drama isn't considered a poll topic when off-the-cuff remarks about auto-impregnation and the Eurovision song contest are.

Thank you very much Mel.

Yes, I did ask suggestions for notable incidents for last two weeks on off-topic:

http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=80009

Unfortunately nobody didn't mention about retirement rumour.

Just let you know that I'm also planning to have an annual poll of Morrissey-Solo Thread of the Year 2007 at the end of week, suggestions and feedbacks all welcome:

:)

Thanks for the heads up, Kewpie!

But I didn't know you had solicited poll topics for notable incidents. What was it doing in the off-topic category? I would think that it's prime for general discussion. Maybe I don't understand the categories:confused:

Well, general discussion is rather busy due to some people bumping Top 100 polls and NME related threads.

I started annual polls last year and thought it's better to discuss the subject on off-topic, but next year I'll post a thread on general discussion.

since it seems a given the nme crisis will be the decisive winner before this poll even begins, i kinda wish we just stated that as fact at the top (ie, NME row is winner of Morrissey Drama of 2007) and then had a better contested poll for runner up of all the other moz dramas of the year....that would be a more interesting since all the other incidents will have much more split votes and the replies of why people voted as they did will be more intriguing.

with this one, it will be "no contest" with nme winning by a huge margin, and that will be that.

kewpie, since this poll probably won't last too long as the nme row will be overwhelmingly victorious, maybe in a couple of days we could do another one just for the runner up morrissey drama without nme on the list? that should be A LOT more interesting. what do ya say? of course, i could just post it myself in a couple of days. :D

[p.s. i wouldn't include the kissing incident in the poll, though, because moz wasn't really a responsible party in that one as he is in all the others...he was more just an innocent victim when her lips and fuel breath befell him! all others happened because of something he said or did or something attributed to him, so he was primarily responsible or at least suspected to be responsible in the other ones. the kissing incident is more like an orange in a poll that asks you to compare different varieties of apples...so sort of like: roma, red delicious, granny smith, braeburn, fuji, and orange!]
:)

the Madonna scandal was huge. Why isn't it part of the poll?

Oh, yeah! I forgot about that. I was reading about that on some issue of Us Weekly saying Moz hated about Madonna adopting that African kid 'cuz he had this feeling that when people adopt kids they'll treat them badly. Madonna seems like a damn good mother for her kids.

Yes, it's a brilliant idea to have the runner up drama poll.
You're the poll master, you can have max 15 dramas except NME row.

Mel suggested hinting at impending retirement which should be included.

People, now it's your chance to add your opinions and feedbacks to the runner up poll!

the Madonna scandal was huge. Why isn't it part of the poll?

yeah, i initially nominated this about Madonna...see the first post above by kewpie for some of my original suggestions for nominations...

but looks like the Madonna drama now has a chance at being a real nomination since we'll re-run this poll for runner-up drama...

great idea kewpie to solicit additional nominations for the runner-up poll and get them fine tuned here in general discussion before posting it!

Gary [temporarily?] left the Lads, and Alain still in camp Moz, but not on
stage.
My point from the original Lads only Boz is there, and that's definately
drama

:o OK, i am fully recanting my previous POV that the LA palladium kissing incident should be omitted from the nominations of a runner-up poll if one is reaired (without NME as a choice). I now agree that moz's stage smooch should be in the noms.

Earlier, I was considering only the protagonist's actions rather than moz's reaction to her and his follow-up comments about it ...now, thinking back on that, those were definitely moz drama-worthy moments, yes. i guess the wording of the choice, "LA Palladium gig stage invader kissing him full on the mouth", was slanted to emphasize the invader herself, rather than how morrissey reacted to this invasion of his mouth.

sorry kewpie - i truly apologize, and it is a good suggestion... but maybe we can reword it to something more moz-centric (like, for ex., "LA Palladium: Moz fueled by mouth invader kiss" ;) ...or similar...you get the general idea)

yes, agreed... those lads' attrition is such mysterious moz drama...we don't have a clue why they have left! do we? (all i know about gaz is the rumour about him scawling 'die wanker' on moz's door...but who knows more about it? and what about alain?)

yes, boz as the only original lad still with moz is certainly some moz drama to me...should be a choice on the runner up poll...

Its a bit of a no brainer really. NME

Agreed. Beyond that only Morrissey's metaphorical "donkey punch" of Kristeen Young from the tour could come close to generating the furor it caused here in the forums.

I voted for Kristeen. I should have voted NME because I think that is probably a bigger thing, especially if it really does go into court, but I hope that it will die down and be forgotten soon. Also, since it's happening right now it's hard to compare.

But my FAVORITE DRAMA WAS OVERLOOKED!!! :p

That is the one about waiting in Morrissey's hotel until 4am (it was only 3:30!) and then being threatened by his bodyguard.

That was a Morrissey-Solo drama more than a Morrissey drama. Do we have an annual award for both?

i LOVE that kiss from the invader.
some of us is turning nasty.:D
